Сценарий авторской сказки для рождественского вечера

                                                   «Письмо Санта Клаусу»

Characters: Mother, the oldest sister Helen, the younger brother Andy, the little sister Betty, Santa-Claus.

(бедно обставленная комната, мать сидит на стуле и вяжет)

Andy: (вбегает в комнату) Oh, Mummy, do you know that Christmas will be soon! All our neighbours are talking only about it. They have already thought what Christmas presents they will get on Christmas. And we?

Mother: My darling, you see, our father has been looking for a job already for three months. His occasional earnings don’t allow us to make both ends meet. Your sister has no shoes to go to school, and your younger brother is always hungry. What presents are you speaking about?

Andy: Does it mean that we won’t have roast turkey and vanilla pudding on our table again? And what about New Year’s Tree?

Mother: I’m afraid it’s too expensive for us. We’ll have to be pleased with bones and unleavened rolls. (уходит)

Andy: It’s a pity that we are so poor! Oh, my God! Don’t you see that greedy and cruel John Fulton will get a dozen of presents, but my kind and hard-working sister Helen hasn’t just shoes. And my little brother? He hasn’t done any bad thing in his life yet. Why is there so much injustice in the world? May be I am faulty? Should I do some good things for my family?

Betty: Andy, Andy, look what I found in the yard! What a beautiful picture is there! May I take it?

Andy: Let me have a look! This is an envelope with a stamp on it. Of course, you may take it, but I’ll take it off from the envelope. (отклеивает марку) Here is your picture. (Бэтти уходит)

What kind of letter was there, in this envelope, I wonder. It might be congratulations with Christmas from somebody? But we haven’t anybody to write the letter and ask for advise. (за сценой песня “New Year’s Day will soon be here”)

Oh! Santa Claus! Why haven’t I guessed before! He makes any wish come true. I must write to him. But what is his address? Where does he live? Should I ask Helen? She is clever and studied well at school. (зовет)  Helen!

Helen: What has happened, Andy?

Andy: Helen, you have read millions of books and you must know such a thing.

Helen: What are you speaking about? What thing?

Andy: Promise not to ask me about anything!

Helen: Okay! What do you want to know?

Andy: Do you know where Santa Claus lives?

Helen: I certainly do. Have you ever heard about Laplandia? It is a winter country far from here, where people ski and there are draught–deer. A very nice little house made of ice is there. It’s Santa-Claus’s home.

Andy: Does Santa-Claus really come to us on Christmas Eve? How can he be everywhere at once?

Helen: He has a pair of beautiful strong deer and white sledge with nice harness and ringing bells. On Christmas Eve Santa-Claus fills his sledge with presents and deer fly like wind. In such way he covers many miles and visits every house.

Andy: Great! Thank you for your help, Helen!

Helen: If you don’t need me any more I’ll go and help Mum washing. (уходит)

Andy: I’ve got the address. All I have to do is to take a sheet of paper and to write a letter. And I’ll ask the postman to oblige me a stamp. (уходит)

Author: Andy wrote a letter and posted it. And began to wait. At last Christmas came. It was as usual. People were celebrating, visiting each other and enjoying the holiday. But it was dark and dull in their house. The children had a bad supper with bones and source, and mother let them go to bed. She wanted them not to suffer. But suddenly … (звучит песня “Jingle Bells”)

Santa-Claus: Oh, what a dirty chimney they have and not my size. I see at once that the piper cleaner ignores their house. Of course, they have no money to pay him. That is the house where I wanted to get. (выходят все члены семьи)

Mother: What’s the matter? What a strange noise? If you are a burglar, so you have chosen the wrong house.

Andy: Mummy, mummy, look at him! Is he a burglar? He is Santa-Claus! Mummy, Helen, come here! He is a true Santa-Claus! He has come, I have been waiting for him for so long and he came at last!

Santa-Claus: How couldn’t I come? It was you who sent me a letter?

Mother: What a letter, Andy?

Helen: That was a reason of your question about Laplandia!

Andy: That means my letter was received! I knew it!

Santa-Claus: I receive all the children’s letters. Let’s see what you’ve wished to get as a present? (читает письмо)

 “Dear Santa!

I am an ordinary boy, Andy Mitchell by name. It was difficult to make a decision to write my letter, because I want you to make my dreams come true. But I’m not alone, I know, and you have a lot of letters with such wishes every day. But I try.

Please help my father find a job as quick as possible. He will earn more money and my mother will be healthy and the most beautiful woman in the world. I haven’t forgotten about my sister, Helen. She always answers all my questions, helps our mother about the house and looks after our younger sister. Her classmates laugh at her old repaired shoes. Be so kind, give her a pair of new nice shoes. And my younger sister is very naughty. She has never eaten sweets in her short life. Would you give her some candies and cookies? If you make everything true, my family will be very happy. It means that I will be also happy. Of course, I would like to get something too, but I am afraid that it is too much for me. It would be enough to see you with my own eyes. Good-bye and I thank you beforehand, although you would read my letter.

                                                                                                        Yours sincerely

                                                                                                                                    Andy Mitchell

Mother: Oh, Andy, I haven’t just known what a kind heart you have.

Santa-Claus: Yes, mom, your son is now a really grown-up person. He thinks at first about his family and no doubt he deserves a prize.

Betty: Santa, may I recite the poem I have been taught by Helen?

Santa-Claus: Certainly you may. I’d like to listen to it greatly.

Christmas message (by Longfellow)

I heard the bells on Christmas Day

Their old familiar carols play,

And wild and sweet

The words repeat

Of peace on Earth, good will to men.

Santa-Claus: What a good boy you are! Come up, I’ll give you this bag with sweets and toys. And where is your smart sister?

Helen: Here I am.

Santa-Claus: Open this box, please, and you’ll find here nice new shoes and a pretty dress. You’ll be the most beautiful girl at your party.

Helen: Thanks a lot, Santa! And you too, Andy. You are so nice.

Andy: Yes, but you are better. You are the best sister in the world. I love you. Bt what about our mother?

Santa-Claus: Of course, I haven’t forgotten about her. Health is the best gift in the world and I’ll do everything so that your mother would never be ill and never be old.

Mother: I don’t trust my eyes! Am I so nice? I haven’t been so beautiful since my marriage.

Santa-Claus: And the main present is, of course, for your father. By the way, where is he?

Mother: He was so tired working the whole day yesterday. Now he is sleeping and I’m sure he hears nothing.

Santa-Claus: Never mind. Here is the address. Let him go tomorrow there and he would get a job. If he works thoroughly, he will be a master and he’ll have more money.

Helen: But we forgot about Andy! Would he get nothing on Christmas?

Andy: I don’t want anything. I am so happy to see   Santa-Claus and to help all my family that I’m full of joy. If only …

Santa-Claus: Speak, Andy, Don’t be afraid. It’s your day now.

Andy: If only I could have a real New Year Tree with toys and lights!

Santa-Claus: What a stuff! Here is the New Year Tree! (песня “Oh, New Year Tree”)

Santa-Claus: What a nice song! But it’s time for me to go. I am being waited for in other homes. I’ll tell everybody about your generous heart, Andy! Be happy!

All: Have a good way, Santa! Let joy and peace come to every house you visit. Let everybody be happy on New Year’s Eve! (песня “Silent Night”)
