Lesson :“ Project  Presentation”

Subject: “ Cinematograph”

Цели урока:

Познавательный аспект – знакомство с историей возникновения американского кинематографа,   с историей  Голливуда, с известными американскими актерами, продюсерами и режиссёрами;

Развивающий аспект – развитие способности к анализу, синтезу, классификации и систематизации, к  догадке, осуществлять репродуктивные и продуктивные речевые действия,  развитие воображения, умения слушать, творческих способностей и  коммуникабельности;

Воспитательный аспект – воспитание  чувства сопричастности к мировой истории, памятникам искусства, более глубокое осознание своей культуры, уважительного, толерантного отношения к чужому мнению, чужой культуре; воспитание потребности к творчеству.

Учебный аспект– формирование лексических навыков чтения и говорения, развитие умения читать и аудировать с целью извлечения конкретной информации, обобщить лексико- грамматический материал по теме: « What Helps You to Enjoy Yourselves?».

Сопутствующие задачи урока:

 – совершенствование речевых умений по теме;

-  совершенствование умений аудировать с целью извлечения необходимой информации;

-  совершенствование умений читать текст с детальным пониманием;

-  активизировать лексико-грамматические модели в построении высказывания- мнения,   

    высказывания- рассуждения, высказывания- описания;

-  развивать инициативную речь;

-  обобщение и систематизация полученных знаний.

Тип урока: обобщающий (по степени новизны материала),  творческий монопроект с открытой координацией.

Методы: - традиционные (словесные и наглядные),

               -  поисковые: проблемные вопросы, ролевая игра, опрос- интервью, дискуссия.

Оснащение урока: компьютеры, мультимедиа проектор, магнитофон с записями, карточки с названиями жанров, постеры по теме: «Кино», фотографии известных зарубежных актёров и продюсеров, афиши кинофильмов, слайдовая презентация по теме: «Кинематограф», запись песни «Голливуд» в исполнении Мадонны, кинофрагменты видеофильма «Звёзды Голливуда», карточки для проверки аудирования.

                                            ХОД УРОКА

1.Организационный момент, установка на английский язык, целеполагание.

      Начало урока. Приветствие. Введение в тему урока.

(На экране проектора: звездное небо, появляются и исчезают афиши фильмов, разных по жанру; звучит песня “Hollywood” в исполнении Мадонны).

Т: Good  afternoon, dear students and guests!   We are glad to see you at our lesson.

-       Well, do you hear this music, my friends?   

P1 - Of course, it’s the song “Hollywood”.

P2 -  I’m sure the singer is Madonna.

T:  - You’re  quite right, my friends; and it’s not occasionally that we are beginning with the song “Hollywood”, because the topic of our talk today is “Cinema”, this magnificent people’s invention.

 Today we are going to revise the theme “Cinema” and “Cinematography”. We’ll speak, listen to the text and do many different tasks. Cinema is a part of our everyday’s life and we can’t imagine even a day without cinema.

 Firstly we’ll revise some words which mean the professions of people connected with cinematography.

The 20th century may be called the century of film making. Cinema and TV films have become an important part in our life. Let’s talk about cinematography…

2. Языковая  зарядка. (Проводится в режиме T> P1  P2  P3)

T: Listen to the sentences and guess the words connected with TV, cinematography.

3.Практика учащихся в различных видах речевой деятельности

(монологическая речь, аудирование).

-Беседа о жанрах фильмов, обсуждение результатов опроса учащихся и учителей, сравнение диаграмм.

P1.- I personally also can’t imagine my life without cinema. By the way we decided to interview a few boys and girls and ask them one question: “ What is cinema for you? Our TV correspondent was Kate. Let’s watch and listen to their responses, shall we?

( Телеинтервью снято на видеокассету в кабинете иностранного языка в школе; 9 девочек и 2 мальчика были его участниками. Сценарий интервью прилагается).

P1- Well, we’ve come to a conclusion that cinema is an amazing and magnificent entertainment and we all are fond of cinema.

P1 - The first genres of films were melodrama, western and comedy, later appeared adventure and historical films.

Затем один  ученик рассказывает об исследовании, которое они провели: опросив 25 учителей и 25 старшеклассников об их любимых жанрах, они подсчитали набранные баллы и составили диаграммы, которые представлены на экране. Диаграммы комментируются, обсуждаются различия.

- P2. Our group has conducted the research. We interviewed  25 students and 25 teachers about their favourite genres. Please, look at this diagram.You see that tastes differ. Our teachers like documentaries and melodramas very much and don’t like horror films. And students on the contrary like horror films. Both teachers and students like comedies.

5.Презентация проектов. Project presentation:

T:    - But how do you treat Russian Film Industry in whole?

P1-  It goes without saying. Russian Film Industry has a magnificent history and is worth of great value. Fortunately it’s developing now and produces real masterpieces.

P2-  Russian cinematography?. Great! Magnificent!  But we shouldn’t forget Hollywood, the international film factory.  Hollywood became the cultural capital of the modern world in the 20th century. As you know Hollywood is the centre of the US film industry. Home of legendary film studios such as: Walt Disney Studio, Columbia, Paramount.

The development of the cinematography brought to life the world cinema empire called     Hollywood.    Hollywood  is it the best place for film making.

1.       We’d like to present a project on the topic: “Cinematograph”

2.       Cinematograph is one of the wonders of the modern world.

3.       It was done by our group.  We’ve chousen this topic because it is very actual. The 20th century may be called the century of film making. Cinema and TV films have become an important part in our life.

11. Our project  is about  Hollywood’s   Stars.

13. First, we’d like to introduce Julia Roberts.

14. Julia Roberts is the most popular actress in America. She was  born in  Georgia.   As a child,  Julia  wanted to be a veterinarian, but later studied journalism. When her brother Eric achieved some success in Hollywood, Julia decided to try acting. Her first break came in 1988 when she appeared in two youth-oriented movies Mystic Pizza (1988) and Satisfaction (1988). The movies introduced her to a new audience who instantly fell in love with this pretty woman. Julia's biggest success was in the  movie Pretty Woman (1990), for which Julia got an Oscar nomination, and also won the People's Choice award for Favorite Actress.  The movie audiences would always love Julia best in romantic comedies. Julia is one of the most popular actress  in Hollywood.

15.This is Cameron Diaz. 16. Cameron Diaz is a serious actress with vast potential.

17.  Cameron Diaz started out as a model who left home to live in Japan when she landed a contract with the Elite Modeling Agency. Soon she was modeling all over the world, from Mexico to Australia, from Paris to Morocco, she continued building her modeling career and earning a great living. Cameron started to appear in different advertisements.  Soon  Cameron decided that modeling was not enough for her. She decided to move on to acting. The movie proved to be a success.  Her next big role came when she appeared alongside Jennifer Aniston in the romantic comedy titled My Best Friend's Wedding.  Cameron Diaz is a serious actress with vast potential, and she will continue to light up the screen.

18. We’d like to introduce Keanu Reeves.

19. Keanu's name  means "cool breeze over the mountains". From hockey star to bass guitarist, a man with an intriguing past and a powerful future, Keanu is one of those actors people just can't get enough of. As a teenager, Keanu had the potential of being a professional hockey player, but he knew acting was the road he was going to take.   Keanu's break-out role was in the teen film, Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure. It was a sensation! The teens couldn't get enough of him, adults wanted to know more about him.  Keanu has starred in an interesting variety of roles.  Thanks to the unbelievable popularity of The Matrix, we will get to see him play the character of Neo two more times in the next two years.  His career is getting hotter by the minute! The last couple of years, Keanu has starred in blockbuster after blockbuster. His past is fascinating, his future bright!

20.  We’d like to introduce Jennifer Aniston.

21. Jennifer  Aniston  was born on the 2’d  of November 1969, in Sherman Oaks, California but was raised mostly in New York. Her father, John Aniston, is an actor.  At  the age of eleven, she joined the Rudolf Steiner School's drama club. 
Jennifer started her professional training at New York's High School for the Performing Arts as a drama student. She graduated there in 1987. Jennifer is also an artist. At the age of 11 one of her paintings was selected for display in the New York Metropolitan Museum of Art. Even now she still spends a lot of time on art projects.  In her spare time, she enjoys hiking, camping, and getting closer to nature especially with her two dogs Enzo and Katchina.

22,23. Let me introduce Mel  Gibson.

24.  In  1956 on January 3rd in  New York  a little  boy was born. His name was Mel  Gibson.  Mel was the sixth of eleven children. When Mel Gibson reached to the age of twelve he and his family moved to Australia. They moved because Mel's father didn't want his boys been drafted to the army and to Vietnam.
 Mel went to a  Sydney's National Institute of Dramatic arts.  In  1977 he got his first role in Summer City, then he went to the South Australia Theater Company.  After  the Road Warrior (1981) he became a star. And he had proven his strength in his next movie too. Mel received an Australian acting award for best actor. After a few years Mel returned in action movies, like Lethal Weapon.  Mel Gibson got married in the year 1980 with a  young lady, Robyn Moore. Together they have six children, Hannah, Edward, Christian, William, Louis and Milo.

25,26,27,28. This is Kevin Costner, an actor and a producer.

29. Kevin Costner, a famous American actor, was born in Los Angeles. He spent his childhood often on the move. As a teenager, he was fond of  football, baseball and basketball and was also interested in singing and writing poetry.

He married his college  Cindy Wilts, still at California State University.  In his spare time he appeared in local theatre productions.  He become an actor.

 His movie "Robin Hood, Prince of the Thieves" was also a great success.

I like this actor because the characters he plays are strong personalities, wise people who are worthy of my admiration. In my opinion, this is the reason of his growing popularity in many, countries. He is not only a talented actor, whose acting draws  attention from the very moment, but he is also a successful producer.

30,31. Let me introduce Leonardo Dicaprio.

32. At the age of six Leonardo Dicaprio decided he wanted to be an actor. He  is one of the hottest young film stars. His face has been on the covers of all the top movie and youth magazines and he has been the subject of countless articles. Leonardo DiCaprio was born in Los Angeles on November 11,1974. He's a Scorpio.

At school he was very good at imitating people. His childhood hero was Poseidon, the Greek god of the sea.

His big break was his leading role in This Boy '$ Life.

One of his most famous films was a modern version of Shakespeare's Romeo and   Juliet set in a fantasy world.

Leonardo is very careful about the roles he chooses.  Leo likes his job.

33. Let me introduce Al Pacino.

34. Al Pacino is one of the most famous and successful actors in the world. He has been in 27 films, two of which he has directed himself. His presence in any film guarantees success.

Born on the 25th April 1940 in New York, Al Pacino grew up in a poor family. His parents divorced when he was small. And he lived with his grandmother. He studied acting at the Herbert Berghof Studio in New York.

His most famous role was  in Francis Ford Coppola’s “The Godfather”. The story of an Italian family made him famous not only in America but also internationally. Maybe because of this first important role, Al Pacino went on to play gangsters and mafia members in many of his other films.

35.36. This is Brad Pitt. He was born in Oklahoma in 1963. In 1986 he arrived in Los Angeles. He is a famous American actor.

37. And now have a look at the photos of the famous American actors and actresses: Shakira.   38. Orlando Bloom  39. Hilary Duff   40. Angelina Jolie Voight. 41. Paris Hilton

42,43. Let me introduce Steven Spielberg: movie Wizard.

44. HE seems to be the all-power wizard and a cinematic magician for us. His Hfilms make us scream with laughter or shiver with horror.

The son of a computer scientist and a gifted pianist, Spielberg spent his early childhood in New Jersey and, later, Arizona. He was 11 when he first got his dad's camera and began shooting short films.

At the age of 13 he won a contest with his 40-minute film.  At the age of 16 he produced the movie Firelight and it was shown at the local cinema.

Today, Spielberg- is one of the most financially successful filmmakers.  His business empire includes video games, toys and even restaurants.

He has 7 children. Spielberg likes to spend time with his children.

- In my opinion, this project is very useful for our English lessons and optional courses.

- From my point of view, this information is very valuable and interesting.

- We consider this project rather good.

What new facts have you learnt from this project?

P1- I’ve learnt that Leonardo Dicaprio  decided to be an actor at the age of 6.

P2- : For me it was new that Kevin Costner has finished the California State University and came out with a business degree in marketing.

P3- It was a surprise for me that Julia Roberts got an Oscar  for the movie Pretty Woman.

P4-  Frankly speaking I didn’t know that Julia Robert’s brother Eric achieved some success in Hollywood.

 P5-  It’s a shame, but I didn’t know that Jennifer Aniston is also an artist.

T.  – And now, students what is your opinion about this project?

P6.- Girls gave a good description of the project. They gave a clear explanation why is cinematograph so important. They offered a lot of new information about Hollywood Stars, American films. The project is great. It has a lot of photos.
