What is self- esteem?
1. What could make teenagers feel uncomfortable about their body?
2. What should we do?
Self-esteem is how you feel about yourself, how you accept yourself. People in our lives (our teachers, parents, elder siblings or classmates) can affect how we feel about ourselves. Harsh words, teasing and bullying hurt our self-esteem.
Teenagers often feel uncomfortable about their physical appearance because they compare themselves to beautiful girls or boys from media images on TV and in magazines. So when they look at themselves in the mirror they are really worried about their short legs, bushy eyebrows, thin hair or protruding ears.
You shouldn’t have a negative image of yourself ― believe in yourself!
Don’t think that people are staring at you.
You shouldn’t compare yourself to the models you see in the media.
It is unrealistic to want to be like them.
Eat healthily and focus on all the good qualities you have.
You should feel confident about who you are.
