Buford Hayse
Pusser (December 12, 1937 –
August 21, 1974) was the
Sheriff of
McNairy County, Tennessee.
He was the youngest sheriff
in Tennessee’s history. When
he was young he made
money as a wrestler.
Pusser survived several
assassination attempts.
He had been shot 8 times, had 7 wonders after knife attack, he fought against 6 men at
once and, as a result, 3 of them went to the jail, and 3 more was hospitalized. He had
destroyed 87 storages of illegal whiskey absolutely alone in one year. Once, Pusser
jumped on the moving car, broke the window by his arm and caught a man who tried to
kill him.
His wife, Pauline, was killed on August 12, 1967, during
an assassination ambush intended for Pusser. And his jaw
was taken out by a bullet.
