Hero of the Great Patriotic War

Makarov Ivan Alexandrovich was born in 1914 in the Mordovian
ASSR, Ruzaevsky district, village of Beketovka. He was drafted into the
war on January 14, 1942 Military rank: private; Red Army soldier.
Military unit: 1018th Infantry Regiment of the 269th Infantry Division.
A wounded man came back from the war. He worked as chairman of the
village council. There were 5 children: 4 daughters and 1 son.

Medal "For Bravery"

Ivan Alexandrovich was awarded for
having defused 124 mines in the
Batavino and Pashkovo areas under
enemy fire and quickly built a crossing
over the Oleshiya River.

The battle path

I'm proud of my great-great-grandfather because he was a real hero. Thanks to people like him, we live under a peaceful sky today. His courage and dedication are an example to me. I will always remember his feat and pass on this memory so that no one will ever forget the price at which the Victory was won. His story is part of our common history,and I am proud to have had such a person in my family.
