Действие совершается не субъектом, а по отношению к нему.
Не книга что-то написала, а, наоборот, она сама была написана неким автором.
Образование
to be + Participle II (3-я форма гл.)
The letter was written by my mother. (Past Simple Passive)
The letter will be written by my mother. (Future Simple Passive)
Если в предложении указано лицо, совершающее действие, то оно присоединяется к сказуемому предлогом by.
The work was done by my brother
Перед словом, обозначающим инструмент, материал, вещество, стоит предлог with.
The ground was covered with snow.
В Passive Voice употребляются глаголы не только переходные, но и глаголы, требующие косвенного дополнения to give, to show, to offer, to tell и предложного to speak of, to listen to, to look at, to look for, to send for
Подлежащее в Passive Voice всегда выражено именительным падежом (he, she, it, we, you, they).
