Vision and mission The University was created on the indiative of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan  Nursultan Nazarbayev It was founded in 2010.   The President set the task to create in Astana  “a  prestigious  and  research  institution  with  unusual  conditions  for  admission  and  special  requirements for the completion of studies”. Vision  Preparation of competitive scientists, managers, professionals and entrepreneurs capable of  developing the science, education and economy of Kazakhstan and the world. Mission  Development of the University as a model for reforming education and modern research in  Kazakhstan as well as the establishment of Astana as a research and educational center of Eurasia. 4 www.nu.edu .kz

Strategic objectives Goal I: Leadership in Education Reform To promote understanding and translation of the experience of the Nazarbayev University in Kazakhstan educational  institutions and research centers. Achievements of NU in Internationalization (1/2)  It is planned that foreign citizen will be admitted to the allocated  quota on the basis of the state order to Nazarbayev University  Student exchange program  Increase the number of internships for the best students in foreign  partner universities, as well as with the support of international  and national companies  In 2012, 8 students were sent to the University of Pierre  and Marie Curie (France) during the summer period which  was organized with the support of the General Association  of Professors of Total 10 www.nu.edu .kz

Achievements of NU in the field of scientific   research (2/2)  In November 2012, the center for Life Sciences organized the second  international  conference  “Regenerative  Medicine  and  Quality  Longevity”  180  scientific  researches  from  Europe,  Asia  and  North  America  participated in the conference   In August 2012, the Center for Educational Policy organized  the Eurasian Forum of Leaders of Higher Education  For the first time in Kazakhstan, a discussion platform was  created in the sphere of education at such a high level  The agenda of the forum was aimed at managements issues  in higher education institutions  More than 300 top managers and top managers in the field  of education scientist government employees and politicians  from 30 countries took part in the forum 13 www.nu.edu .kz

Research Centers (1/3) Center of Energy Studies (CER)  The  energy sector is the main for the economic development of the country.  Therefore, given the fact that Kazakhstan is rich in mineral resources, it is very  important to develop energy science and technology. Vision The Center for Energy Studies is the leading research center in Central Asia  in the field of renewable energy, nuclear and high energy, energy efficiency  and energy saving technologies, numerical simulation of energy balance and  forecasting of the infact on the environment and climate.   The mission is the development and commercialization of advanced  accessible technologies in the field of energy, ecology and fundamental  sciences in the Republic of Kazakhstan in cooperation with the world’s  leading research centers and companies   14 www.nu.edu .kz

Research Centers (2/3) Center for Life Sciences (CLS)  The  Center  for  Life  Sciences  strives  for  the  transformations  of  medicine  and  the  healthcare  system  in  Kazakhstan  through  innovative  research,  the  transmission  of  breakthrough  discoveries  the  training  of  future  clinical  and  scientific  leaders,  the  promotion and practice of proven medicine, and research in the field of personalized  and predictive medicine Mission The develop fundamental and modern knowledge in the field of nature and behavior of living organisms, as well  as the application of this knowledge to prolong life and prevent diseases and physical incapacity.
