Differences
While in the Russian fairy tales the good
fellows, fair maidens and magical powers who
assist them are entirely positive characters, in
the English fairy tales a protagonist can, just
after performing a feat, fool or cheat someone.
Magical powers behave the same way. Elves,
for example, help people in doing good things,
but everyone knows their prone to theft.
Most of the folk tales teach children to obey
their parents, respect the older ones, help those
who are weak and need their help. The
difference is very slight: in English folklore
main characters are more practical.
There are a lot of unique tales in English and
Russian folklore. They have very unusual plots
and it's impossible to compare them with other
stories. For example, "Catskin", "Tom Tit Tot",
"Cap of Rushes", "The Fish and the Ring",
"Morozko",
"Snegurochka",
"Red Ettin",
"GusyLebedy", and many others.

Tales in different countries could be similar and
have similar plots. But there are tales that have
different history, language, character. However all
tales teach us to be kind, friendly and honest and
give us a moral lesson. Through the comparative
analysis of the thoughts, behavior, selfevaluation
of the characters, which they undertake, the
students realize that there are more common than
differentiating features in our folklore.
