“The Country Mouse and the Town Mouse” («Мышь городская и мышь деревенская»)
1. Meet the Town Mouse. The Town Mouse lives in the town. She lives in a big house. She is white and merry. She has got a funny face. She likes to play computer games. In the morning she listens to music. She can dance well.
On Sundays the Country Mouse comes to visit her. The Country Mouse is her friend. The Country Mouse is grey and smart. She has got black eyes, small ears and a long tail. She likes to read and draw pictures. She can write poems.
2. The Town Mouse is very happy to see the Country Mouse. They have breakfast together.
The Town Mouse: Would you like some cheese and bread?
The Country Mouse: Yes, please. I like cheese and bread.
The Town Mouse: Here you are. Help yourself!
The Country Mouse: Thank you. Oh, the cheese is good. May I take a sweet?
The Town Mouse: Yes, yes take it, please. Would you like some jam?
The Country Mouse: I’m sorry, I don’t like jam. I like red apples. May I have a small red apple?
The Town Mouse: You are welcome.
3. “What’s this?”-said the Country Mouse. “Mew-mew!” “The Cat! The big black Cat! We must run!” – says the Town Mouse. The mice run away. The Country Mouse is afraid. The Country Mouse says: “I want to go home! I haven’t got sweets and cakes at home. I have got only corn. But a big bad cat doesn’t live in my house. Come and see me on Monday. Good bye!”
