Фонетический конкурс Dear guests, we are happy to see you at our annual phonetic competition. Today we are  going to enjoy the poems, recited by the pupils of secondary schools, our first­year student  and our foreign students from Myanmar and China . They need your encouragement and  support. Today, our anchorman is the first­year student of our university, Savva.  _______________________________________________________________________ Dear friends, let's start the annual phonetic competition. Our competition consists of two  stages. The first stage: our participants will read the literary extract. This fragment is from the great book "The Picture of Dorian Gray" by Oscar Wilde. Next stage of our competition is the reciting the poems of American and English writers.  Let me introduce our jury. They are The teachers of English at Komsomolsk­on­Amure State Technical University  We are starting our phonetic competition with the first stage: You have the card with number, this is your number in the queue. When we say: "Let's  stop", you will end your reading and then we will name the next number and the next  participant will continue to read the extract. When the text is over, we will start again(from  the beginning). You have 5 minutes to become acquainted with the extract for reading. Some words about the book. The Picture of Dorian Gray is about a young man named Dorian Gray who has a portrait painted of himself. The artist, Basil Hallward, thinks Dorian Gray is very beautiful, and becomes obsessed with Dorian. One day in Basil's garden, Dorian Gray meets a man named Lord Henry Wotton. Lord Henry Wotton makes Dorian Gray believe that the only thing important in life is beauty.
