Mass media in Englishspeaking countries.
Mass media plays an important role in the life of society. Mass media includes
various types of media such as television, radio, newspapers and magazines.
Reading newspapers and magazines, watching TV, listening to the news on the

information.
I am sure that TV is the most popular kind of mass media now. We have many
main means
getting
different channels through which viewers are fond of watching variety show, films,
sports, plays, educational and cultural programs. If you watch TV and listen to the
radio you can improve your knowledge of history, biology, literature or even learn
a foreign language by radio you can do it every day from any place in the world.
To my mind, television is very popular in the USA and Great Britain: many
families here have more than one TV set. The most popular channels on the British
TV are BBC 1, BBC, ITV and Channel. The two BBC channels are national —
they are founded by the government but are nonpolitical. On BBC Channels the
televiewers can watch news, TV sport programmes, educational programmes,
interviews with prominent people, musical programmes and many other items.
The public TV broadcasts mainly educational and cultural programmes — plays,
ballets, symphonies, programmes on art and history. And yet, sometimes, the
television in Britain and the USA is criticised, because people think that it shows
too much violence and crime and I am agree with it. Why people watch TV?
The first reason is that the time people spend watching TV,reading newspapers
leaves them almost no time thinking on their own. If they using these mass media
too much,it may cause mental laziness because most time they just listen to radio
or stick eyes to television, newspaper and let scenes films, lines in newspapers flow
in their mind without thinking by themselves, that is why it is the most popular
kind of mass media. The newspapers are also popular mass media in Englishspeaking countries. I
think that the newspapers occur to England than to the USA and it depends on the
life styles of people who live in different countries and have got different relations
to life, different ways to get information. For example, in the morning, before
work, and in the evening, when they come home, people in the Englishspeaking
countries like to read newspapers and magazines, watch TV or listen to the radio.
The newspapers, which are produced in Great Britain, the USA and other English
speaking countries, are divided into national and local.
The national newspapers are those, which are sold all over the country: they are
“The Times”, “The Guardian”, “The Independent”, “The Daily Telegraph” and
“The Financial Times” , “The New York Times”, “The Washington Post”.
There are two main types of national newspapers — the “popular” papers and the
“quality” papers. Most of the popular papers are tabloids — that is the papers with
smallsize pages where you can find a lot of lie. Examples of this type of
newspapers in Great Britain are “The Daily Mail”, “The Sun” and “The Daily
Mirror”. “ All types of newspapers publish a lot of advertisements. People in the
Englishspeaking countries buy more newspapers on Sundays than on weekdays.
The next types of mass media are radio and the internet. Let’s start with the
Internet, it is one of the most convenient way to get any information, you can use
the internet everywhere, I think it is useful and very useful thing in our live.
I think it is impossible to imagine our life without radio, as well.
Radio plays an important role in reflecting the life of society and building
opinions. It performs the service of information well enough. Radio keeps us
informed about current events, extend the education, provide the cultural
recreation, allow us to follow the latest developments in science and politics and
offer an endless number of programmers which are both instructive and
entertaining. So it gives us a lot of useful information.
Finally, when you read newspaper or listen to radio, you are often persuaded by
their analysis, argument,or persuasive voice. You will see everything innewspaper,on radio is reasoning, which may effect on the way you think, the way
you say in daily life. You don't know people who write papers, speak on radio are
trained to do it. They always have the way to make listeners or readers believe
them.
In a word, from reasons above, we may reach the conclusion that the mass media
certainly affect people' ideas. People should not spend too much time watching
Tv,reading newspaper or listening radio.
