ОГЭ- 2021 Email

The plan

An email must include the following components:
1. The greeting
2.Thanks for the email
3. Apologies for not writing and the reason
4. Linking words and phrases
5. Answers for the questions
6.The end of an email and the reason for its finishing
7. Hope for future contacts
8. Closing phrase
9. Your name

1. The greeting

It consists of:
Dear + name (Dear Tоm,)
The comma is required after a name!

- Thanks (a lot) for your (recent) letter/ email.
- I was glad to get your letter.
- It was great to hear from you!

2. Thanks for the email

- Sorry I haven’t answered earlier but I was really busy with my school.
- Sorry I haven’t written earlier but…
- Sorry I haven’t been in touch for so long but…

3. Apologies for not writing and the reason

I’m glad you passed your Physics test!
I’m glad you’re OK!
I miss you greatly!
Well,…
Anyway,…
You know,…
As for me,…

4. Linking words and phrases

5. Answers for the questions

Pay attention!
а) The number of answers must coincide with the number of questions: What extreme sports would you like to try, if any, and why? -  I’d like to try rafting, because it implies a well coordinated team work, good reaction and nerves of steel;

b) Observe the grammatical structure of questions and answers: What would you do if you were me? -If I were you, I would…  ;

c) You don’t need to answer the questions in the order in which they are asked, but the answers must be logically connected.

6.The end of an email and the reason for its finishing

- Well, I’d better go now as I have to do my homework
- Anyway, I have to go now: my Mum asked me to help her with our dinner
- Actually, I’ve got to go now! It’s time for my favourite TV show

7. Hope for future contacts

- Write (back) soon!
- Take care and keep in touch!
Сan't wait to hear from you!
I’m looking forward to hearing from you!
Drop me a line

8. Closing phrase

(with) best wishes,
Name
Love,
Name
Yours,

All the best,

You have received a letter from your English- speaking pen-friend who writes

..Last summer my parents and I went hiking to the mountains. We spent the whole week together and enjoyed it very much. How often do you take active holidays? Who do you think is the best company for you? What extreme sports would you like to try, if any, and why?
Last month our English class got an interesting project. We wrote a paper about interesting events in the past of our country …

Write a letter to Tom. In your letter answer his questions.
Write 100—120 words.

The sample email

Dear Tom,
Thanks for your letter. Sorry I haven’t answered earlier but I was busy with my school project. Hope you didn’t have accidents while hiking!
As for me, I don’t have much time for active holidays because I have a lot of homework. My family is more the stay-at-home sort, so I can’t spend the time with them somehow actively. My company is my friend and, you know, our trips are usually very jolly. I’d like to try rafting this spring, because it implies a well coordinated team work, good reaction and nerves of steel.
Anyway, I’d better go now as my dad wants me to help him with his car. Write soon!
Love,
Ann
