The first Immortal Regiment march took place in 2012. About 6,000 people marched along the Tomsk central street with 2,000 photos of their ancestors who participated in the war. In spring 2017 the number of participants all around Russia was about 8 million.

Yeremeyev Peter Vasilevich, was born on

Yeremeyev Peter Vasilevich, was born on June 11, 1911 in the Ufa region. He finished Zlatoustovsky metallurgical technical school in 1930 and graduated from Orenburg military aviation school of pilots in 1933. Yeremeyev 1.SEND to the front of the Great Patriotic War since June 1941. On the night of July 29 on the fighter MIG-3 he 2. ATTACK the enemy bomber Yu-88 not far from Moscow, that was the 3. ONE time in the 4. MILITIA history night ram attack. He was the fighter pilot, the senior lieutenant, the Hero of the Russian Federation (21.09.1995, posthumously). He made more than 100 assault flights, brought down 2 enemy planes. He 5. KILL in air battle on October 2,

Alexandr Matrosov 1. BEAR in Dnepropetrovsk on February 5, 1924. When he was five his parents died and he was taken to the 2. CHILD’s home in Ivanovsk. In 1942 entered infantry school and was taken to Kalininsky front.On 27 of February 1943, in the battle for the village of Chernushki near Pskov battalion was given a command to attack enemy in the village, three 3. GERMANY machine-guns fire the infantry from pill-boxes. Solders managed to damage two of them. Matrosov was given a combat mission to detonate the rest one. He got to the pill-box and threw the grenade into it. The unit began the attack but machine-gun started again. Matrosov threw himself onto a pill-box, 4. BLOCK the machine-gun with his own body, to allow
his unit 5. ADVANCE. For his self-sacrifice in battle,
Matrosov was posthumously awarded the
distinction Hero of the Soviet Union. Matrosov is
one of the 6. FAMOUS heroes of the World War II.

Zoia Kosmodemianskaia was from family of priests of Russian Orthodox Church. Zoya was born in 1923 not far from the city of Tambov. In 1930 her family moved to Moscow. In October 1941 she 1.VOLUNTEER for a partisan unit. Zoya was assigned to the partisan unit of the 2.WEST Front. Out of a thousand people who joined the unit in October 1941 only a half survived the war. At the village of Obukhovo near Naro-Fominsk, Zoia and other partisans crossed the front line and entered territory 3.OCCUPY by the Germans. They mined roads and cut communication lines. On November 27, 1941 Zoya received an 4.ASSIGN to burn the village of Petrischevo, where a German cavalry regiment was stationed she
5. CAPTURE by fascists. She was a subject to
torture but did not say her name and the military
secret.On 29 of November fascists hang Zoya.
She was posthumously awarded the distinction
Hero of the Soviet Union in 1942.

Ivan Vasilievich Panfilov was born in

Ivan Vasilievich Panfilov was born in January,1 1893, in Saratov region, in 1915 was taken to Czar army, took part in World War I, in the Civil War 1917 in 25-th Chapaev 1.DIVIDE. In 1941 Panfilov formed 316th Rifle division. In October 1941 the division stayed not far from Volokolamsk, 2.DEFEND the way to Moscow. He was the first who used echelon anti-tank artillery 3.DEFEND. All the German attacks 4.BREAK. They all 5.FIGHT to death. During the battle, Panfilov received an order from Marshal Zhukov, stating that if he retreated he 6.WILL face a firing squad. In this way General Panfilov's
brigade of 28 soldiers destroyed 60 tanks and several
hundred soldiers. Only 3 soldiers survived the
carnage. Because of this action they were called
Panfilovtsy. For that battle Panfilov was
Posthumously awarded the distinction
Hero of the Soviet Union.

Georgy Konstantinovich Zhukov was born in 1896

Georgy Konstantinovich Zhukov was born in 1896. He started his military career in 1915 during the First World War as a junior corporal in cavalry. In October 1918 he joined the Soviet Army and fought in the Civil War as a 1.COMMAND of cavalry squadron. The attack by Zhukov became the first major armored 2.OFFENSE. He became the general of the Soviet Army. On 29 August, 1939 Zhukov was awarded the title of Hero of the Soviet Union. During the Great 3.PATRIOT War Zhukov became the deputy Supreme Commander-in-Chief. He managed some of the 4.LARGE military 5.OPERATE, including breaking the Leningrad blockade, Stalingrad operation and Kursk battle. On 8 May 1945 Zhukov accepted
the capitulation of Fascist Germany. He stayed at Berlin
till 1946 then he returned to Moscow. At 1953 after
the Stalin death he was one of the 6.LEAD of
opposition against Stalin regime. On 1 December
1956 Zhukov was awarded the title of Hero of the
Soviet Union for the 7.FOUR time (8.FORMAL it
was done for his 60-year jubilee).
