неопределенная (неличная) форма глагола, которая только называет действие, не указывая ни лица, ни числа. Инфинитив отвечает на вопросы что делать? что сделать?
to run – бежать/прибежать
to cook – готовить/приготовить

ФУНКЦИИ ИНФИНИТИВА

Инфинитив может служить в предложении:
подлежащим(subject)
To skate is pleasant.
Кататься на коньках приятно.
2) именной частью сказуемого (predicate)
Your duty was to inform me about it immediately.
Вашей обязанностью было сообщить мне об этом немедленно.

3) частью составного глагольного сказуемого:
She began to translate the article.
Она начала переводить статью.
4) дополнением(object)
I asked him to help me.
Я попросил его помочь мне.

5) определением(attribute)
He expressed a desire to help me.
Он выразил желание помочь мне.
6) обстоятельством(adverbial modifier)
I went to the station to see off a friend.
Я поехал на вокзал, чтобы проводить
приятеля.

ИНФИНИТИВ УПОТРЕБЛЯЕТСЯ БЕЗ ЧАСТИЦЫ TO

после модальных глаголов, кроме have to, be to, ought to
после глаголов чувственного восприятия see, hear, notice, watch, feel
после глаголов let, make, help (в конструкции «сложное дополнение»)
после модальных выражений would rather, had better

He could read at the age of 4.

I felt somebody touch my shoulder. 

Let me help you!

ФОРМЫ ИНФИНИТИВА

Choose the right form of the infinitive.

We can … (speak/to speak) Spanish.
He often makes me … (feel/to feel) guilty.
You have … (be/to be) friendly and polite.
She must … (stay/to stay).
The lawyer will … (call/to call) you later.
I’d like … (send/to send) him a present.
You’d better … (move/to move) faster.
We heard somebody … (enter/to enter) the apartment.
Mother wants … (paint/to paint) the walls in the kitchen.
We decided … (sell/to sell) the car.

Correct the mistakes where it is necessary.
