London has many bridges over the
Thames , more than twenty .

The most interesting and beautiful of
them are the Tower Bridge situated near
the Tower of London , Waterloo Bridge
situated not far from Nelsons Column.

The tall Nelson's Column stands in the middle
of Trafalgar Square . Close to the Houses of
Parliament stands Westminster Abbey.

The Abbey contains the
bones of twenty English kings
and queens and those of a
great many , poets statesman
and soldiers here you may
see the tomb of the Unknown
Soldier Who represents in his
native soil a million dead in

many of greatest English writers are buried , such as Chauser ,
Dickens, Tennyson , Browning Hardy , Kipling and others , many
famous poets and writers , though not buried in Westminster Abbey

Conqueror in 1066
on the ruins of old
Roman fortress . It

enemy.
Tower was a royal place until the days of James 1 , a prison , a
mint , a treasury , observatory , Zoo . The oldest part of the part of
the fortress in the White Tower the Bloody Tower is the place
where may dukes, kings and Queens were killed.
You may see the Tower tame ravens hopping about on Tower Green .
There have always been ravens here , and legend says the Tower will
crumble if they should ever leave , and that is why their wings are
clipped.
The Tower is
guarded by
Beefeaters who
look after the
ravens.
At ten o‘clock
every night the
Ceremony of the
Keys takes place
in the Tower ,
when the warders
and the Chief
Warder , with a
guards escort ,
perform the
locking up the
Tower gates. The
ceremony dates
back at least
700years.
