If you  haven't seen it look. The Arena  of battles that's what drew me then. I was keen on to be there….. To take any seat and  see in life that fighting. To feel the spirit of the past and  the trade  of different nationalities. And my dream has come true. I went to Turkey but I had no idea that I was so closer to  it.        There I was  attended  with a popular excursion  Demre­Myra­Kekova with a visit to the Church of St. Nicholas.  And so we have been  taken with the bus outside the hotel and my trip to the historical country began. We went to the first point of our route to Demre. The way to Demre is an endless streamer of mountain   roads,   passing   through   the   mountains   and   near   the   coast   of   the Mediterranean   Sea.     We   passed     the   legendary   mount   Olympus   (Tahtali).  According to ancient legend   Bellerophon on Pegasus, wined   archery monster Chimera on this mount, which fell through the bowels of the mountain. Still, on top of  this mount Olympus, you can see the flames exploring from the crevices.        And so we were  found ourselves on the place of the modern city of  Demre formerly a city of the world,  which name derives from the wild olive tree of the World, but as a result of earthquakes and natural disasters of the ancient  city was completely under water, and there was built a modern Demre, which   name is literally  translated   as  "a  second  over    the  World"  that  is  constructed over   a previous city. The history of  Demre (Worlds) is closely connected with revered St. Nicholas in Russia , who lived in the World in 3­4 century  and was the Bishop of the local Church. After his  death , there was  some miraculous cure and the World became a place of pilgrimage for Christians. This explains a large number of shops with Souvenirs and icons dedicated to Saint Nicholas. Strolling through the city we passed through Lycian tombs. Lycian tombs were impressive in size, and decorated with bas­relief carved directly into the rock. Burial places are undoubtedly delighted  of its grandeur. Residents of the Lycians believed that  than the higher a tomb, the easier angels  carry souls to heaven.  Lycian necropolis is essentially a series of rock tombs with decorated facades. Externally the tombs are similar to the dwellings of the ancient Lycians, in many places I can  trace the inscriptions on the ancient Lycian language. The place of burial among the ancient Lycians were decorated with bas­relief, on which was beaten the stories from the life of the deceased, favorite activities, family members or cause of death.        And here we approached to the place of my dreams. Near the tombs was an ancient theatre of city in the World. Let me explain why this theater is considered to be Greco­Roman. Lycia was conquered by the Greeks and  thanks for  the Greek theatre in the World has the appearance of a classical theater building.      The Main features of Greek theatre is its semi­circular structure with a stage in the center, where  was the show. There are seat adjacent to the stage. During its history the theatre has been repeatedly destroyed, was subjected to the earthquake, was sunk, but was always restored. Later, Lycia was ceded by the Roman Empire. The Romans built the theater and   made its design. That is why the theater is considered   to   be   Greco­Roman.     In   Greco­Roman   times   shows   lasted   from morning to evening in the theatre. There could be not only theatrical performances, but also the courts, executions, sacrifices.  I am sure  that theatre in the World was the heart of the city.      The Audience seats of the theatre is entirely made of stone. The theatre of Myra is the largest  the territory of Lycia with accommodation  of 10 thousand people. The seats in the Greek theatre was called the theatron (the place for shows) and were divided beams­stairs from the stage to the upper ranks. Thus there were several sections. The rows of seats were divided by a passage at the anterior and posterior  groups,  and were distributed  depending on the position. Aristocracy, priests, ambassadors of other States was located on a convenient, front  rows.        Well I did not miss the opportunity and took one of the places and  found myself  in the film Gladiator and  I became the observer of that battles. There is no enough  words to describe my feelings. I can only say it was fantastic. So  I will continue my historical notes. The facade of the theater was decorated  with male and female masks carved from stone. Then  and now you can find among the ruins at the Museum.      So to conclusion I would say that the construction of the ancient theatre inspires enthusiasm and admiration by its grandeur and large scale. Understanding that the construction of two thousand years, this place is impregnated with the unique atmosphereof  many legends, myths and events.        It is like to   back two thousand years ago in the past and feel   all events happened  on this place.      Although «Gladiator» was shot  in the Amphitheater of El JEM Tunisia,  I  have got enormous pleasure from what I saw there. And this arena is very similar to the one from the movie, no wonder the story was said. My dream became real. And next place where I'm going to travel   it   would be the Amphitheater of El JEM Tunisia.
