Прилагательные в английском языке имеют положительную, сравнительную и превосходную степени сравнения
big
bigger
the biggest
Сравнительная степень прилагательных из одного или двух слов образуется с помощью суффикса -er,
превосходная с помощью суффикса - est:
strong
stronger
the strongest
big – bigger – (the) biggest
cold – colder – (the) coldest
hot – hotter – (the) hottest
large – larger – (the) largest
happy – happier – (the)happiest
good – better – (the) best
bad – worse – (the) worst
many – more – (the) most
little – less – (the) least
Исключения:
При сравнении степени качества одного предмета со степенью качества другого
употребляется союз than (чем)
The blue ball is smaller
than the green ball.
В превосходной степени перед прилагательными употребляется артикль thе
spring
winter
autumn
Winter is the coldest season in the year.
В односложных прилагательных согласная удваивается после кратких гласных:
big - bigger - (the) biggest
hot - hotter - (the) hottest
Буква y на конце прилагательных после согласных меняется на i:
happy - happier - the happiest
funny - funnier - the funniest
Непроизносимая "е" опускается и прибавляется -er или -est:
nice - nicer - (the) nicest
large - larger - (the) largest
