Задание - "Funny Stories"

Funny stories

Level: 5-8 grades.

Purpose: creative writing and speaking focusing on grammar

Preparation and materials: handouts with various story pictures, paper, pencil or pen

Time needed: 20 minutes for writing story, 5 minutes for each group to tell story.

Procedure: students can work in pairs or small groups depending on size of class. Each pair or group selects a handout with a picture on it. Students are instructed to write one short page story, the wilder and funnier the better, telling a story of the characters and actions in the picture. Teacher instructs that each story must meet 3 requirements: 1.) addresses past, present and future tense 2.) includes correct use of 5 groups of similar words with different meanings 3.) story consists of at least 10 and no more than 15 sentences.

At the end of allotted writing time, each group will present their story with each student speaking.

Modifications: Focus of writing/speaking activity can be changed. Example: minimal pair tongue twisters focusing on pronunciation.
