A Grey Duckling’s Story 

Once upon a time, in the most beautiful and fashionable pond, there lived a duck whose name was Miranda. She was the most gorgeous duck in the forest. Her feathers were soft and shone with different colours. Her photos were on the covers of all the forest magazines. Everyone wanted to look like her. Her eldest daughter, Emily, was her favourite and the spitting image. She always made offensive jokes about her sister Andie. Andie, the youngest, was small and grey, the most shy and quiet. “Look at your boring feathers” Emily and the other siblings laughed. “You don’t belong to our family!”

Once they had a family photoshoot for “Pond Vogue”. Famous photographer Jayne Pond, a goose, was setting up the perfect shot. He looked through his camera and when he noticed Andie, he frowned. “Oh, dear,” he said to Andie. “You don’t match the others. Could you move aside, please?”. “Of course, because she's ugly! Why is she in our family!” Emily shouted and everyone laughed. Andie’s heart was broken. She turned and swam away. 

For a long time, she was alone and lost. One day, a tall swan with feathers as white as snow noticed her. His eyes were very calm and clever. He looked at Andie with great interest. “My name is Nigel,” he said. The swan lifted the lens he had and looked through it at Andie. This lens was magical, it showed inner beauty. The swan saw Andie’s intelligence, charisma and elegance. “Amazing!” he whispered. “I’ve been looking for someone like you. Do you want to take part in my film?”

For the first time, someone believed in Andie and valued her for who she was. This allowed her to open up. Some time later, when the film came out, everyone saw Andie in the lead role, as beautiful as she was. This magical lens showed her quiet strength. She became a beloved celebrity and began to appear in films and shows. To a great astonishment of all her relatives, they recognized Andie not as the sister they were bullying, but as a shining star.

She had finally found a place where she was truly believed in and appreciated. She was no longer afraid to be true to herself, and her uniqueness became her power.
