Цели урока: создать условия для формирования навыков поискового и смыслового чтения на основе текста «Загадочные существа», повторение и введение новой лексики по теме «Загадочные существа»; развитие умений прогнозирования содержания текста; развитие умений поискового и изучающего чтения; развитие языковой догадки; формирование уважительного и доброжелательного отношения к другому человеку, его мнению, мировоззрению, культуре, освоение социальных норм, правил поведения, толерантное отношение к проявлениям другой культуры.
Планируемые результаты:
Предметные: расширять лексический материал по теме «Mysteriuos monsters», прогнозировать содержание текста, произносить и различать на слух новый лексический материал, повторить и закрепить новую лексику путём выполнения различных упражнений, делать краткое описание в письме национальных таинственных существ.
Личностные: признание ценности всех живых существ, оптимизм в восприятии мира.
Метапредметные:
- регулятивные: адекватно оценивать свои возможности достижения цели определенной сложности в различных сферах деятельности;
- познавательные: структурировать тексты, включая умение выделять главную и второстепенную информацию; главную идею текста;

Let’s try to guess the topic of our lesson. I have prepared some pictures for you. If you look at them, you will be able to name the topic of our lesson.

Mysterious Creatures
Some people say that the Loch Ness Monster lives in the cold water of the lake in Scotland. It is a very big animal with a long neck and huge eyes. Other people think that it is just a story, but there are some interesting photos of the monster. What do you think?
The Kraken is an enormous sea monster from Norwegian stories. It is like a giant octopus with ten long arms and many sharp hooks on them. Its body is as big as an island, and its mouth is full of huge teeth. The Kraken can pull ships under the water and kill all the sailors. Some people think that it really exists, but others don't.
Bigfoot is a very tall creature with big feet that lives in the forests of North America. It has a lot of black hair on its body and red eyes. It walks on two legs and sometimes throws stones at people. People have seen Bigfoot many times, but nobody has ever found any real evidence (like bones or fur) of it. Many scientists say that Bigfoot is not real, but some other scientists are not sure.
The Yeti is a large, hairy creature like Bigfoot. It lives in the mountains of Nepal and Tibet, and it is very strong. People have seen its footprints in the snow, and they have taken some photos of it, but nobody has ever caught one. Some people say that the Yeti is just a bear, but other people believe that it is a mysterious animal.
The Chupacabra is a small, scary animal from South America. It has a snake-like head, red eyes, and very sharp teeth. It kills goats and drinks their blood. Some people say that the Chupacabra is an alien from another planet, but most scientists think that it is just a dog or a coyote with a disease. What do you think?
