В современном мире иностранный язык становится все более популярным. Но овладение английским языком невозможно без формирования функциональной грамотности – способности человека использовать коммуникативные навыки в ситуациях реального общения.

Основная задача учителя: вовлекать учащихся в образовательный процесс и повышать познавательную активность, стимулировать активную мыслительную и практическую деятельность. Чтобы процесс обучения языку был интересным и плодотворным, учителю необходимо выбирать эффективные приемы, методы и средства обучения.

English Banknotes and Coins

The official currency of the Unites Kingdom is the pound sterling which is equal to one
hundred pence. The British do not use the Euro. Although a few of the big shops will accept Euro, it is rarely used across Britain. English banknotes are issued by the Bank of England. The following coins are in circulation: one penny, two pence, five pence, ten pence, 20 pence, 50 pence, 1 pound, and 2 pounds.

What is Money?
Money Facts
• Cattle, grain, fur, different metals and other things were a kind of money many, many years ago.
• We use money (cash) to pay for goods and services in the modern world.
• Money usually takes the form of coins, banknotes (or bills in the US), debit and credit cards and bank balances. We also use the Internet to pay for goods on-line.
• The Russian ruble (or rouble) is the currency of the Russian Federation, 100 kopecks make ONE ruble.
• The Russian ruble uses the ruble sign ₽ as a symbol.
• Coins and banknotes are popular items for collectors, especially rare, old and misprinted ones.

DIFFERENT KINDS OF FORESTS
In the boreal forest, in taiga, the needle-shaped leaves of conifers are virtually inedible. So this forest supports very little life in winter.

Australia's climate is governed mostly by its size and by the hot, sinking air of the subtropical high pressure belt (subtropical ridge). This moves north-west and north-east with the seasons. The climate is variable, with frequent droughts lasting several seasons, thought to be caused in part by the El Niño-Southern Oscillation. Australia has a wide variety of climates due to its large geographical size. The largest part of Australia is desert or semi-arid. Only the south-east and south-west corners have a temperate climate and moderately fertile soil. The northern part of the country has a tropical climate, varying between grasslands and desert. Australia holds many heat-related records: the continent has the hottest extended region year-round, the areas with the hottest summer climate, and the highest sunshine duration.

Вторая половинка фото. Покажите детям половину фотографии. Пусть они попробуют догадаться, что изображено на второй части.
Заголовок. Рассмотрите с учениками фотографию и попросите их придумать странный, смешной, злой или страшный заголовок к ней на английском языке.
Мозговой штурм. Задача ребят в этом упражнении — записать как можно больше слов и выражений, относящихся к заданной теме.
Споры. Обсудите противоречивые ситуации, когда ученикам нужно принять прямо противоположные точки зрения: за и против.
Фантазёр. Для такого задания понадобятся фотографии. Пусть учащиеся представят диалоги и мысли изображенных людей, их прошлое и будущее, их день на английском языке.
Любопытство. Для выполнения этого задания разделите класс на команды. Предложите одной группе учеников задать как минимум 15 вопросов к простой картинке, а второй ответить.
Синквейн. Это литературная форма, позволяющая кратко уместить свои ассоциации, мысли, эмоции.

К отличительным особенностям текстов на формирование функциональной грамотности относятся:
небольшой объем неадаптированного текста;
информация представленная в виде рисунков, схем, диаграмм;
интегрированные задания;
так называемые «несплошные тексты» - театральные билеты, афиши, проездные документы и т.д.

1. Place chicken and water in a large pot and boil for 30 minutes.
2. Stir the flour, sugar and salt together to combine.
3. Heat the oven to 180 degrees.
4. Cut tomatoes, cucumbers and peppers. Separate onion slices into rings.
5. Add carrots, potatoes and onion to the broth.
6. Put the prepared vegetables in a bowl. Add some olives.
7. Add some water and make the dough.
8. Chop celery leaves and add into the pot with the noodles.
9. Pour on some dressing and add Feta Cheese.
10. Slice the tomatoes to put over the filling.
