The Beginning …

For the first some
weeks 1997 tanks,
2108 tools and 917
planes were lost.

But all the same the Soviet Army crushed the enemy

The Ending …

More than 480000
German soldiers
and offices were
captured.

On May 9, 1945 the
plane landed on Red
Square. It delivered the
Act of capitulation of
Germany.

On the 24th of June, 1945the first Paradeof the Victory took place

The Parade was accepted bymarshal Zhukov

Konstantin Rokossovskiyordered the parade

People on streets
congratulated
each other,
embraced, kissed
and cried.

On May 9, in the evening inMoscow Victory Salute was given

It was the most large
scale salute in the
history of the USSR.
From thousand tools
30 volleys were given.

Stalin signed the
decree that May 9
became the state
holiday and the
day off.

Abroad the Victory Day is celebrated
not on May 9, but on May 8 because
the Act was signed on the central
European Time on May 8 at 22:43.

In London, celebrations
were in Buckingham
palace and on Trafalgar
Square.
