Just a century ago we didn’t even know about computers and the Internet. But today we take them for granted and can’t imagine our life without these inventions. I think that the Internet (or WorldWideWeb) is the greatest invention ever and it has made a significant impact on our lives. Аs you probably already guessed, the topic of our lesson is "The Internet ".

Today we are going to revise all the information about different ways of connecting computers into the net. We'll remember various types of topologies. And also we’ll discuss some major points concerning the global or worldwide net known as the Internet. We'll continue developing our speaking skills, listening comprehension skills, abilities of solving and developing some problem situations. Also we'll deal with fulfilling creative task by means of picture basis and your graphics abilities.
The most important thing is that the potential of our skills we’ll be developed, mastered and cheсked up by means of computer technologies.

Do you agree that nowadays we can’t imagine our life without computers, mobile phones and the Internet? They almost became the part of our life. And today we will discuss the advantages and disadvantages of the Internet. To my mind this topic is very actual.

The Internet is the largest computer network that opens up new opportunities for humanity. In the modern world, you won't find a person who doesn't use it. For each user, it plays a certain role in life. And the students were no exception. Why does a student need the Internet? It is the best assistant for those who want to gain in-depth knowledge in literally every subject and is a powerful tool in the hands of a student, if he disposes of it correctly. With the help of modern information technologies, it becomes possible to receive education not only full-time, but also remotely, without leaving home. The global Internet network provides access to information in scientific centers of the world, libraries, which creates real conditions for self-education, expanding horizons, and professional development.

You know that all inventions have their history like people do.The same situation we have got with the Internet. At first people had only local networks and only after some time they felt necessity of connecting computers for creating one global communicative and informative net - THE INTERNET.
This network was invented in the late 60s by American militaries for providing an effective communicative connection in the case of enemies' attack. At first the net included only four computers that had to show the possibilities of the system. In 1972 50 universities were attached to the net, and in 1980 the work of the net was provided by supercomputers. In 1991 the Internet was formed as communicative area that connected local and regional networks. The number of users is increasing all the time. And now we have a great possibility of using this system for different purposes.

The first team should determine the positive impact of the Internet on our lives, the second team – the negative impact. There are some cards on the screen, each team chooses the ones that suit them and transfers them to the sheet, creating a mind card.

Do you know what a cinquain is? It is a kind of Japanese poem. It consists of 5 lines. The first line is the name of the word, the second is two adjectives, the third is 3 verbs, the fourth is a phrase, and the last is the noun again, a synonym of the first line. For example:
