Why exactly this building?

This happened when I first came to St. Petersburg, 5 years ago. I saw Kazan Cathedral and sunk into my soul. When you see this cathedral, you are amazed because it is very large and has a great gistory.

History

Kazan Cathedral was built in St. Petersburg in 1811. Kazan Cathedral was built according to the project of the architect Andrei Nikiforovich Voronikhin in the European style from 1801 to 1811.

Architecture style

The cathedral was built in the Empire style, in imitation of the temples of the Roman Empire. The building is stretched from west to east in the shape of a four-pointed Latin cross and in the middle cross is crowned with a slender dome.

Brother cathedral

The closest in time and style to the prototype of the Kazan Cathedral is St. Peter's Basilica in Rome. This is primarily reminiscent of the outer colonnade from Nevsky Prospekt.
