A Competition Lesson "How to look great (по  учебнику Кузовлева В.П. English­9)  Цели урока:  практическая: обобщить и систематизировать знания и умения учащихся по теме “Здоровье“; образовательная цель: знакомить учащихся с различными пословицами и поговорками о еде, сравнить их  с русскими эквивалентами; знакомить с мифами и научными фактами о здоровье; развивающая: развивать воображение, фантазию, творческое мышление; развивать речевые способности,  способность логически излагать, развивать умения сравнивать, анализировать, воображать; воспитательная: учить учащихся бережно относиться к своему здоровью, правильно питаться, отказаться от вредных привычек. Оборудование: магнитофонная запись, выставка творческих работ учащихся “ Sandwich”, “ Food Diary”,  которые они готовят заранее.  ХОД УРОКА 1. Начало урока: 1) приветствие T: Good morning, everybody. Nice to meet you. How are you today? Are you fine? That’s nice. Then, let’s start  our unusual lesson. Today we shall have a final lesson according to our topic “ Healthy Living Guide “. This  lesson will be in the form of competition between two teams. But first of all, please answer my questions. 2) речевая зарядка 1) Did you eat any fruit and vegetables yesterday (including potatoes)? 2) How many times a week do you have a fried meal (e.g. eggs and bacon or fish and chips)? 3) What have you had for breakfast today? 4) What do you like to eat? 5) What is your favorite food? 6) Do you prefer Russian or English cuisine? Why? 2. Do you know Russian cuisine? T: We have two teams. And now let’s see how do you know Russian cuisine. Take the sheets of paper. Here you  can see two columns. The name of the Russian dishes are in the left column and their descriptions are in the right one. Read and match the names with their descriptions. 1. Pelmeni  2.  Vinaigrette  3. Shchi  a. Russian salad; it is a mixture of vegetables, boiled and chopped;  b. Soup with pickled cucumbers; c. Russian dumplings­cases of dough filled with meat or berries; d. Thin fruit jelly made from fruit or berry juice and potato flour; 1 4. Rassolnik  5. Kasha  6. Kissel  7. Okroshka  8. Blini  e. Soup with kvas, hard­boiled eggs, radishes, chopped spring onions, cucumbers and dill, boiled meat; everything is chopped. It is cold. f. Cabbage soup with fresh or sauerkraut cabbage; g. Cereal pudding. It is made of oats, rice, manna groats, buckwheat, millet; h. Pancakes (made of flour, water or milk, yeast and eggs). 3. Russian proverbs about food and health. T: Do you know them? Which of the teams will be the best? Who names the most of all? (уч­ся заранее дома  готовят пословицы о еде и здоровье). 1) The appetite comes with eating. 2) They don’t carry samovars to Tula town. 3) Every vegetable has its season. 4) A spoon is dear when lunch time is near. 5) A hungry man is an angry man. 6) Porridge and cabbage soup is but our native food. 7) Too much butter won’t spoil the porridge. 8) Tastes differ. 9) You say you are a mushroom, so­ into the basket you go! 10) Hunger breaks stone walls. 11) The last piece of meat is especially sweet. 12) A man with a full belly thinks no one is hungry. 4. Writing Competition 1) For the first team: write as many words (food­ products, plants) as you can that are useful for our health (e.g.  fruit, vegetables, fish, meat, poultry, nuts). 2) For the second team: write as many words as you can that are harmful or unhealthy for us (e.g. chocolate,  sugar, coffee, sweets, butter, etc.).  5. “ Food Categories “ T: Fill in (complete) the table “ Food Categories”. Which foods are? Fruits Vegetables Nuts Fish Meat Poultry                                                                                                             2 Apple, beet, banana, pea, cashew, green pepper, peach, lettuce, bean, potato, pecan, pear, strawberry, peanut,  onion, plum, walnut, carrot, orange, tomato, celery, lemon, coconut, pineapple, cherry, squash, cucumber, grapes, beef, sardine, turkey, pork, duck, sole, mutton, veal, chicken, herring, cod, lamb, goose, trout, venison, salmon,  bacon, carp, ham, hen, tuna. 6. Развитие умений чтения и аудирования. Ex. 1 p. 118 T: Read the pieces of information and decide which are myths and which are scientific facts. Then listen and  check. 7. Развитие монологической речи. T: Explain to your foreign friend: 1) how to cook Russian dinner; 2) how to make your favorite cake or pudding; 3) how to use some beauty products; 4) how to cook a traditional family dish. 8. Correct the mistakes if any: CCC calori harespray, vetamine, obesity, Inaktivity ,  faibre,  ingridient ,  eyesigt,  diseas. 9. Заключение. Подведение итогов. 3
