3.Речевая зарядка. 6 мин. |
- Now remind me the stages of your project work. What was the first stage?
- Nice idea. Moreover, I know that some of you have your own experience of visiting international airports.
- Can you tell me how you worked on your projects?
-Oh, I guess we`ll have exiting time while listening to you. So, who will be the first? |
- At our lessons of English we have learnt a lot about London Heathrow airport. Now we know how to buy an electronic ticket, to check in, to pass the security check, to make a phone call, to take out money in a cash machine. But we know nothing about other international airports. That is why we`ve decided to find information about them and to represent it in the way of a project.
-Yes. That is why our main idea is not only to give information about different international airports but to share our impressions about visiting them.
-Yes, we can. -Victoria and Kseniya: We`ve decided to speak about John F. Kennedy airport and we`ve made a computer presentation of it. We`ve found some information about the airport and then we`ve used episodes from the film “ Up in the air” with George Clooney in the main role to show the check- in, the security check , arrivals, departures and so on. -Vlad: you know that I was in London Heathrow airport in September. That is why I`ve decided to make a presentation of the project using my photos. -Ira: I and my parents travel a lot. I was in Portugal in summer. That is why I want to share my impressions about Lisbon Portela airport and some other airports which I have visited during my trips. I have made a computer presentation. - Dana, Anton, Alina: we want to tell you about Sheremetjevo. It is also an international airport. We`ve made a poster. -Maxim and Kristina: Our project is about Vnukovo airport in Moscow. We have a report. - Dasha and Kseniya. We will speak about Domodedovo. We have a computer presentation.

-Of course ,Vadim, you may start.
-What an interesting information! We spoke about Heathrow but didn`t know that! What is your own impression about the airport? What surprised you most of all?
-Thank you very much! I like you story and your presentation. And now I want to listen to Victoria and Kseniya.
-(after the watching of the presentation). A very unusual work! Thank you! George Clooney is my favourite actor. And here he demonstrates everything that we spoke about discussing airports. Nice idea to use the episodes from the film “Up in the air”. Who is the next? Ira? OK. Come here.
-Thank you, Ira. Your gave us information about 4 international airports. It is more than somebody else did. Good for you. Now I want to listen to Dana, Anton and Alina. Take your poster ,fix it on the board and be ready to speak.
-Thank you. Your project is very informative. You gave us a lot of interesting facts from the history of Sheremetyevo. Maxim and Kristina ,now it`s your turn to show your project.
-Thank you, girls. Your project is also very interesting and informative. Kseniya and Dasha, are you ready?
- Thank you for your story. It`s a pity, but you have made some grammar mistakes in your computer presentation. You should be more attentive. |
- May I? -I want to speak about London Heathrow airport. The history of it began in 1930 At that period of time Heathrow was the Big West Airport and it was a military aerodrome. Fairey Aviation company used this aerodrome . In 1943 building of a landing road began. To build it, they destroyed a small village Heathrow which later gave it`s name to a future airport. In 1955 queen Elizabeth II opened the first terminal- the Europe terminal ( now it is the terminal 2). The Ocean Terminal (terminal 3) was opened on 13 November 1961. Terminal 1 was opened in 1968. Nowadays there are 5 terminals there. Since 1970 the airport has been growing and changing. A lot of technological improvements have appeared there. It is one of the biggest and the most modern airport today. It serves 90 air companies and connects with 170 airports all over the world. How can we get to the airport from London? There are a lot of ways to do it. The best is by tube. Piccadilly Circus line. It takes you 45 minutes. By cab. It costs 45-65 pounds and takes you 30-40 min. By a special bus from National Express. It costs 5 pounds and brings you to Heathrow in an hour. By express from Paddington railway station you can get to Heathrow in 20-25 min. A ticket is 16.50 pounds.
-I was struck by this airport. It`s so huge! It`s so crowded! There are big queues to everywhere. I like the new technology there - check-in screen. Thanks to it you can make your boarding pass by yourself. And at the security check you shouldn`t take off your shoes but you must take off your coats, belts and empty your pockets. And I like duty free shops there. They are full of goods.
-As we have already said , we`ve made a project about John F. Kennedy airport as a computer presentation of it. We won`t comment the presentation because it is made as a kind of film with the music. All the necessary information is given on the slides.
--Ira: I have seen many international airports. I have been to Spain, Dubai, Portugal .That is why I want to share my impressions about those international airports. I have made a computer presentation. Aeropuerto de Madrid-Barajas (Spain). It is one of the biggest airports in Spain. It is situated not far from Madrid and attracts millions of people every year .It has connections with 60 air companies and is a bridge between Europe and Latin America. Its innovative and attractive facilities, equipped with the latest technology offer passengers great mobility efficiency and speed, with modern baggage handling system, shopping areas and electronic check-in . I like the airport, but I have some negative impression of it because our flight was delayed and we had to wait for 1.5 hour before we flew.. The other airport I want to tell you about is in Dubai. It is amazing! It struck me with it`s luxury. It was build in 1960 and since that time it has been one of the richest airports in the world. It has 3 terminals. It`s stuff is very polite. I was surprised when I saw only men working there. But then I remembered that it was an Arabian country… Lisbon Portella Airport is located 7 km north of the city of Lisbon, the capital of Portugal. The airport is the main international gateway to Portugal and a major European hub. It was opened during the Second World War and was used for military purposes. After the war it was used for civil planes. Nowadays it has 2 terminals for passengers and one is for cargo planes. I liked this airport because our flight was not delayed . I also liked duty free shops where I bought many things. There is information about the airport in Mexico. I have not been there yet, but we are going there next summer. The Central airport of Mexico was opened in 1939. By 1970 it had become the biggest airport in Latin America and transported a great number of passengers from all over the world. It has modern duty free shops, check-in, security check, cafes and restaurants.
-We are speaking about Sheremetyevo. Sheremetyevo is an international airport located 29km north-west of Moscow. It is a hub for the passenger operations of the Russian international airline Aeroflot, and one of the three major airports serving Moscow along with Domodedovo International Airport and Vnukovo . It is the second largest in Russia (after Domodedovo). In 2009, the airport handled 14,764,000 passengers and 158,606 aircraft movements. Sheremetyevo was opened on 11 August 1959; the first international flight was on 1 June 1960 to Berlin . Sheremetyevo-1 (used by domestic flights) was opened on 3 September 1964. On 12 September 1967, the first scheduled passenger flight of Tupolev Tu-134 departed from Sheremetyevo (to Stockholm), followed by the first scheduled flight of Ilyushin Il-62 (to Montreal) on 15 September. Sheremetyevo-2, the larger of the two terminals, opened on 1 January 1980 for the 1980 Summer Olympics and is the arrival and departure point for international flights. Flights to cities in Russia and charter flights arrive and depart from Sheremetyevo-1. There is no physical connection between the two terminals; they are essentially separate airports using the same set of runways. The airport has a modern security check and check-in. There are a lot of cafes and bars there. The duty free shop is full of goods. We think that this airport is very comfortable and well equipped.
- We are ready. It is about Vnukivo. Vnukovo is an international airport located 28 kilometres southwest from the centre of Moscow. It is one of three major airports serving Moscow . In 2008 the airport handled almost 8 million passengers. Vnukovo is the oldest of Moscow's operating airports. Its construction was approved by the Soviet government in 1937, since the older Khodynka Airport (located much closer to the city centre, but closed by the 1980s) was becoming overloaded. Vnukovo was opened on 1 July 1941. During the Great Patriotic War it served as a military airbase; passenger services started after the war. The airfield has two intersecting runways of 3,000 metres and 3,060 metres in length. Each runway is 60 metres wide, with 10m wide safety shoulders on each side. The runways' joint capacity is 60 aircraft movements per hour. The airport has two passenger terminals (International Terminal B and Domestic Terminal 2), one general aviation terminal (for charter business flights), one cargo terminal and 60 aircraft stands. The airport can handle a maximum number of 3,000 passengers per hour, and 4,000 people are employed there. The Tupolev rework facility is also located at Vnukovo. Vnukovo Airport is equipped with a VIP hall, which is used by many political leaders and important people visiting Russia. The Russian President also uses Vnukovo's VIP facility. We were there last and like the airport very much. It is modern and very beautiful.
-Yes,we are. Domodedovo International Airport is an international airport located in Domodedo, 42 kilometres south-southeast of the centre of Moscow. Domodedovo is the largest airport in Russia in terms of passenger and cargo traffic (20.43 million passengers used the airport in 2008, which is a 9% increase over 2007), and is one of the three major Moscow airports along with Sheremetyevo and Vnukovo. In 2003 the airport began an expansion program designed to obtain approval for New Large Aircraft operations. The runway, taxiways and parking areas were enlarged and strengthened. In March 2009 it was announced that the approval had been granted, making Domodedovo Airport the first in Russia approved for NLA operations such as the Airbus A380. Services from Domodedovo began in March 1964 with a flight to Sverdlovsk (now Yekaterinburg) using a Tupolev 104. The airport, intended to handle the growth of long-distance domestic traffic in the Soviet Union, was officially opened in May 1965. A second runway, parallel to the existing one, was put into service 18 months after the opening of the airport. On 26 December 1975, Domodedovo Airport was selected for the inaugural flight of Tupolev Tu-144 to Alma Ata. Since 1996, Domodedovo Airport has been operated by East Line Group on a 75-year lease, although the runways continue to be controlled by the state. The group has been heavily investing in reconstruction of the airport, arranging for customs to be more convenient and the airport to be kept clean. Because of various issues at Sheremetyev, British Airways, Swiss International Air Line, Japan Airline, and Austrian Airline moved their flights from there to Domodedovo. We were at this airport, visited it`s duty free shops, café, took money in a cash machine, waited in big queues to check in and to pass the security check.

5.Этап рефлексии. 7 мин |
-So, we have just finished to listen to you and now I want you to express your own opinion about your mate`s work. Keep in mind the following criteria: 1) how good the overall presentation was, 2) pictures and photos should be used and they should help to understand the material better, 3)the presentation should be informative enough, 4) an unusual and interesting form of presentation, 5) grammar or factual mistakes.
- I agree with all the opinions. As for me, I enjoyed listening to your presentations. The information which was given by you today can be used next year when we `ll study this topic with other pupils. |
-Vlad: I like Victoria`s and Ksenia`s project. Their presentation is exiting. They`ve used not only pictures but also the scenes from the very popular film ”Up in the air”. These scenes are the best demonstration of what we were speaking about while we studied the topic “international airports”. And I like the music they have chosen for presentation .It gives good mood.
-Dana: I also like their presentation, but I want to say some words about Vlad`s project. He told about Heathrow and didn`t use his notes to look in them. It means that he has learnt everything by heart Great! He was in Heathrow and he knew what to tell about. Some facts were new for us. He has made some mistakes but corrected them himself. I like it!
-Anton: I agree with Vlad and Dana. I also like those projects. But I want to single out Maxim and Kristina`s project. They`ve prepared a very informative presentation about Vnukovo. I didn`t know much about this airport before. Now I know how it looks like and some other things. They have made some grammar mistakes ,but never mind. I like it.
-Alina: It`s a pity, our project was not as good as others. A computer presentation is better than a poster. Next time we`ll try to use a better form of a project prtsentation. But Kseniya and Dasha`s project is also interesting though they`ve made some mistakes.
