An amazing place in my country - Peterhof

Peterhof is a grand residence of Peter the Great, which has grown to the limits of a small city. Today it is the widely known as the largest palace and park ensemble in the world. Peterhof is located 30 kilometers from St. Petersburg. It is located on the southern coast of the Gulf of Finland. It is located in the Petrodvorets district of St. Petersburg.

The brilliant Peterhof - the capital of crystal fountains and emerald parks - is a must-see place for all tourists arriving in St. Petersburg.  Peterhof includes palaces, cascades, regular parks - each of them is a separate masterpiece of architectural and garden art. Palaces are the best examples of the architecture of the Petrine era. The parks of Peterhof are a real green kingdom. The main wealth here is fountains. In total there are more than 150 in the territory.

The climate in Peterhof is humid, with gusty winds, cloudiness and frequent rains. Peterhof is better to visit when the weather is sunny and clear. You’d better to plan a trip for the whole day. The best time to visit it is from May to September. At this time you can fully enjoy the green spaces of Peterhof. In addition, fountains are open at this period of time.

In order to visit Petegof, you must first get to St. Petersburg. There are several bus routes that take you to Peterhof.  If you don’t like buses, then you can get there by train. The train ride takes less than an hour. 

There are several parks in Peterhof, but deservedly the most popular of them are Upper and Lower. Between the Upper and Lower Parks there is the Grand Palace. The Grand Peterhof Palace is one of the main objects of the complex. In addition to the palaces in the complex, you can visit very interesting museum exhibits. There are more than 15 museums there. In Petergof  you can also find several cathedrals. 

Peter and Paul Cathedral in Peterhof is one of the most beautiful Temples in the Leningrad region. Peterhof Palace and Park Ensemble is famous for its unique system of fountains. Currently, the park has 4 cascades and 176 fountains. This is a unique engineering structure, which has practically no analogues in the world. Most of the fountains are located in the Lower Park. The Grand Cascade is the most famous and grandiose fountain of the Peterhof Palace and Park Ensemble.  Another important object of the Lower Park are the Voronikhinsky colonnades, emphasizing the entrance to the Sea Canal.

There are some hotels in Peterhof, but it is better to stay in Petersburg itself . A trip to Peterhof takes about an hour. There is a wide range of hotels for every taste and budget in St.Petersburg. But if you want to stay directly in Peterhof, the choice of hotels here is no worse. 

When visiting Peterhof, first of all, make sure that your shoes are comfortable, because you will have to walk a lot. Don’t forget about camera to take photos. It is also a good idea to have water and a snack with you, because food in restaurants and cafes there is very expensive. If you came to Peterhof for the first time, then you should take a map of the lower park with you so as not to get lost and watch all the beautiful places. In Peterhof, you will also need some money to pay for an admission ticket, as well as to pay for a ride on an electric car, if you wish.

I would advise all my friends to visit Peterhof, as this is a unique place. This amazing place can tell a lot about the era of Peter the Great.
