Discussing Inspection and Tests

During the talks we also clarify the question of inspection and tests. The Buyers would like their inspectors to be present at the tests since it is going to be their trial order. We agree to that and undertake to send the Notification of Readiness for the Test well in advance. The Buyers would like it to be sent rather early (at least 45 days before the date of the test). The Buyers don`t want to have any troubles if Notifications are delayed and as a result their inspectors can`t arrive at the plant in due time. On our part, we expect a Release Note for shipment to be signet immediately after the tests are carried out and the Test Report is submitted. Otherwise we won`t be able to arrange shipment of the goods in time. The Buyers promise that their inspectors will do that by all means if the results of the tests are satisfactory.

Discussing Prices

            Sometimes the Buyers don`t find our prices reasonable and ask us to make a discount on the prices. If the Buyers consider our prices not acceptable (find the price high, don`t want to accept our price) the manager tries to persuade the Buyers that our prices are quite reasonable. He argues that our engines are of high quality (of the latest model, reliable in operation, in great demand at the world market, etc.). The manager stresses that we usually give a good discount to the customers who place big orders with us. The Buyer agrees to place a trial order of a large size and our company gives the Buyer a reasonable discount off the value of the goods.

Discussing Terms of Payment and Delivery

            If the Buyers agree to open a L/C (a letter of credit) for the full value of the goods with the National Bank of Belarus, we give them larger discount on the prices of our goods. Very often the Buyer requires the goods for immediate shipment. If we are heavy with orders at the moment we offer to start shipping a certain quality of goods after we sign the contract. We undertake to deliver the  balance  of them in several lots (consignments) of 50 engines each at regular intervals within a certain period of time (say, six month). We guarantee that there won`t be any delay in shipment. The next point to clarity during the talks is about delivery terms. As we can provide shipping facilities we usually sell our goods on CIF terms.

FUNCTION OF MONEY

People accept money in exchange for goods and services. But the role of money depends on the state of development of an economy. Money has become an essential element of economies based on thedivision of labour, in which individuals have specialized in certain activities and enterprises have focused on manufacturing specific goods rendering specific services. In order to make transactions as simple and efficient as possible, the introduction for a generally accepted medium of exchange suggested itself.

Money performs the function of a medium of exchange or means of payment with goods being exchanged for money and money for goods. At the same time it also acts as a unit of account.

Money is a store of value, as part of an individual`s income may be set aside for future consumption.

These three functions of money – medium of exchange, unit of account and store of value – can only be fulfilled if there is great confidence in it is stability of value. Safeguarding monetary stability is the primary task of the central banks all over the world. Moreover the central bank has the function of regulating the money supply in order to guarantee a smooth functioning of the monetary system.
