“Your Own Game”
Purpose: This activity can help students consolidate previously learned material and test their knowledge. It can also help students improve their teamwork skills.
Preparation and Materials: You will need a computer, a large screen and a presentation (for example, this: https://yadi.sk/i/2atvgRVXVZyImw).
To complete this task, on average, it takes from 50 to 60 minutes.
Depending on the vocabulary of students and their language level (and their age), you can change the complexity of the presentation.
Procedure:
1) Ask students to divide into groups of three to five.
2) Ask each group to come up with a name.
3) Turn on the presentation and explain the rules of the game. Tell students that each group will take turns choosing a question for themselves and answering it. Explain to them that the higher the difficulty of the question, the more points they will receive. They are given a maximum of 60 seconds to respond.
4) Write the name of each group on the board. When the group gives the correct answer, write the number of points under their name to count them at the end of the lesson.
5) After the questions are over, name the group that won (this moment will come when 20-30 minutes have passed).
6) Now invite students to host this game themselves. For example, one student will sit at a computer and click on questions, while another will assume the role of host of the show (note that it is better to replace the presentation with another one, but on the same topic. Otherwise, students will not be interested).
7) When students finish the game and name the winner, praise everyone for their good work.
