It is impossible to find anybody who has never heard the name of great English playwright and poet William Shakespeare. We enjoy reading his sonnets and watching his plays on theatre`s stage. II Ведущий. His works were translated into different languages in the world. One of the famous Russian poets, Samuel Marshack, said the following: Я перевел Шекспировы сонеты, Пускай поэт, покинув старый дом, Заговорит на языке другом В другие дни, в другом краю планеты. I Ведущий. Соратником его мы признаем, Защитником свободы, правды, мира. Недаром имя славное Шекспира По­русски значит «Потрясай копьем». And   today   our   game   is   dedicated   to   the   greatest   playwright   in   the   world   literature­William Shakespeare. II Ведущий. On your tables you see 2 cards with words “True” and “False”. Now I`d like you to agree or disagree with the statements about some facts from W. Shakespeare`s life. I Ведущий. If you  agree, you will show the card “True”; if not, you will show the card “False”. The team which shows the card first, will receive а score. Ready? Let`s begin, then. 1. There is a joke about an American lady, who when asked whether she knew Shakespeare, said: “Do you mean the guy who wrote quotations?” All of us, Russian speakers of English, know by heart at least a dozen famous lines from his plays and sonnets and we can recognize many more. I Ведущий. 1 So, in your sheets match the original quotation and its translation. For each correct answer you will receive a score. You have 7 minutes to do this task. As you know, in London Shakespeare became an actor of the Globe Theatre and began to write plays for it. He wrote tragedies and comedies. I`m sure that you know them well. Now you should find mistakes in the names of Shakespeare`s plays and correct them. You have 5 minutes to do the task.                                   (По истечении времени) It`s time to collect the sheets.  (После сбора листов): Look at the screen and check your progress.                                   (На экране высвечиваются правильные ответы).
