Цель урока: Развитие коммуникативной компетенции через языковой материал по теме «Шотландские коровы»

Задачи: 

Образовательные:

-ознакомить учащихся с культурной особенностью Шотландии-с Шотландскими коровами (Хайленды); активизировать ранее изученную лексику по теме “Partsofthebody” с введением новой лексики;

развивающие – способствовать развитию навыков во всех видах речевой деятельности, развитию языковой догадки.

воспитательные – воспитывать информационную культуру, активную жизненную позицию, умение сотрудничать и работать в команде, формировать толерантное отношение к культуре и достопримечательностям страны изучаемого языка

Оснащение: видеофрагменты, раздаточный материал

Ход урока

Начало урока. Приветствие.

-Good morning, pupils. I am very glad to see you. Sit down, please.. Let's start! Today we'll work in teams and create a training card.

2. Введение в тему. Создание учебной мотивации. “Brainstorm”.

-Boys and girls, look at these pictures attentively. What can we see?

(the photo of the Queen Elizabeth, the meadow in the Czech Republic, the national costume of Scotland- Kilt, Scotland cows –coos, The Scottish Thistle)

-Tell me, please, where we are flying?

-Right, we are flying to Scotland and we will get acquainted with an amazing animal of Scotland- Scottish coos.

-But why are there the pictures of the queen and the meadow in the Czech Republic here? Can you explain? Can you guess?

(No, we do not know.)

-Well, we will find answers to these questions during our lesson.

We are flying to Scotland. Let's watch a video. Listen very attentively. After listening your task will be to fill in the datasheet, using the information from the video. Please, take and look through the task. I'll give you 10 seconds.

The Scottish cow (if we' ll say more exactly: the Scottish coo) is one of the symbols of Scotland. The origin of this animal is Scotland. It lives in the Scottish Highlands. The Highland coo has an unusual appearance: a huge head, strong legs, a furry tail, sharp horns, thick fur, long fringe. The Highland coo may be of different colours: grey, yellow, red, brown. The Highland coos typically have a height of 110–120 centimeters. They eat hard grass and thorny bushes. These animals are calm and friendly.

-Is it clear? Well done. There is a datasheet on your desks. Your task is to fill in the table, using the information from the video. (e.g. head - big head).

-Excellent. How many words you know! Your vocabulary is very rich.

-I have a question. What information did we miss? Which fact from the video did not we show?

(The fact that the Scottish coos live in Highlands and they are one of the symbols of Scotland. Right you are!)

-Guys, you have a map on your tables and the same map is on the screen. Be attentive! Scotland has two parts: Highlands and Lowlands. Where does the Scottish coo live: In the Highland or in the Lowlands? Take the picture of the Scottish coo and put it on the correct place on the map.

-Well done, my dear! If everybody has the same answer, raise your hands, please. Excellent.

-This part is called –Highland (высокогорье). It is in the north of Scotland. The another part is Lowland (низменность). It is situated in the south. Let's repeat after me. (проговаривание слов.). Are the words HIGH and LOW synonyms or antonyms?

Scottish coos live in the Highlands, that's why these animals are also called The Highland coos.

-Guys, let's continue. Look at the screen. (просмотр видеоРассказывает девочка)

“I was at the circus. It was announced “The Highland Coo is performing” . I was shocked. It was different from usual cows. Why did it have an unusual appearance?”

-Boys and girls, do you know the answer to this question? (No we do not know). Any variants?

-The matter is that there is a direct connection with the climate, in which we live. E.G. The Africans have curly hair in order to protect their head from intense heat.

It is time to find out the answers to our questions. There are tasks in front of you. Please, open them. Your task is to choose the correct item, which explains structure features of the Highland Coos. Work in teams. E.g. Structure feature-short legs. Choose the correct reason, why they have short legs.

The Highland Coos are the favourites of the Queen Elizabeth II. She keeps the whole herd of Scottish Coos in Balmoral Castle. The Highland Coos are very useful animals. They can dig the ground with their horns to find food. Workers of Jesenice meadows in the Czech Republic bought the herd of Scottish coos for improving of the local soil. The experiment was a great success. The Scottish breed was spread nearly all over the world, for example, Australia, Canada, North America, Central Europe, Scandinavia.

-The Highland coos are useful animals not only in Scotland, but in other countries, too. What are they? Look at your map. You see cursors (pointers) around the map. Your task is to choose and stick the countries, in which the Scottish coos are spread. You have the list with these countries, there are extra words among them. Let'sstart!

-Boys and girls, let's return to the beginning of our lesson. Do you remember The Queen Elizabeth II and the meadow in the Czech Republic? (Yes , of course!) Can you tell me how The Queen Elizabeth II is related to the Highland Coos? (She keeps the whole herd of Scottish Coos in Balmoral Castle). What can you say about the meadow in the Czech Republic? (Workers of Jesenice meadows in the Czech Republic bought the herd of Scottish coos for improving of the local soil)
