Игра-соревнование “ We and nature ” 9 класс

Цель игры: повышение мотивации учащихся при изучении английского языка
Задачи:
1. Обобщить знания по теме “Natural disasters”, полученные на уроках английского языка.
2. Разработать творческие задания, объединяющие урочную и внеурочную деятельность, направленные на развитие качеств поликультурной личности обучающихся.
3. Расширять кругозор и креативные способности учащихся. Учить правилам выживания в экстремальных условиях.
Участники: две команды (названия Hurricane, Tornado, Tsunami, Lightning…..)
Сценарий мероприятия
1. Listen to the song “Natural disasters” and say: How many disasters are mentioned in the song?
2. Listen to the poem “Natural disasters” by Charlie Townsend, look at the screen and guess the names of the disasters. Then make these names from the letters. (flood, volcano, earthquake, tsunami, tornado, wildfire)
3. Guess the riddles:
A mass of snow, ice and rock that slides rapidly down the side of a mountain – (avalanche)
It happens after a heavy rain – (flood)
Lava, cinders, gases come up suddenly from below the earth surface through an opening of a mountain – (volcano)
A series of water waves caused by the displacement of a large volume of body water – (tsunami)
A storm with very strong winds – (hurricane)
An uncontrolled fire in the countryside or a wilderness area – (wildfire)
Sudden violent movement of the earth’s surface – (earthquake)
Continuous dry weather, when there is no rain for a long time – (drought)
A sudden bright light in the sky when there is a storm – (lightning)
A very strong spinning wind that ruins houses and lifts cars in the air – (tornado)
4. Listen to the sounds of different disasters and guess what it is.(1- earthquake, 2 - tsunami, 3 - wildfire, 4 – thunderstorm, 5 - flood, 6 – tornado, 7 – hurricane, 8 – blizzard)
5. Tongue-twister about weather:
Whether the weather is fine,
Or whether the weather is not,
Whether the weather is cold,
Or whether the weather is hot.
We’ll weather the weather
Whatever the weather,
Whether we like it or not.
6. Match two parts of sayings about weather and climate:
