Today Scotland is considered to be one of the most beautiful mountainous countries in the world.

It is one of the four parts of the United Kingdom. It shares land borders only with England.

Its capital and cultural center is Edinburgh.

The head of Scotland is the England monarch- Queen Elizabeth II.

The official flag of the country consists of a white cross on a blue background and is known as St. Andrews Cross.

Scottish towns differ from the English ones. Their distinct features are cobblestone streets, medieval style houses, green parks and plenty of historic architecture.
