February: comes from “februa” – a festival of purification in ancient Rome.

March: the 1st month of the Roman year, named after the God of war Mars.

April: comes from
“aperire”=“to open”,
probably because the blossoms begin to open.

May: named after the Roman Goddess of honour and reverence Maiesta

July: Named after the Roman emperor Julius Caesar, who was born in this month.

June: named after the Roman Goddess of honour Juno.

August: Named after the Roman emperor Augustus,
because several
fortunate events occurred in this month

September: the name comes from “septem”=7.

October: the name comes from “octo”=8.

November: the name comes from “novem”=9.
