The aims of the lesson
to expand student`s linguistic outlook;
to develop student`s lingual abilities;
to raise student`s interest to the different sport events;
to demonstrate a mutual relation an English language and special subject.
The first Winter Olympics
The first Winter Olympic Games were held in France in 1924. They were called the International Winter Sports Week but lasted 11 days.
Athletes from 16 countries took part in it.
Four posters were created and printed in that case.
The most popular poster was the drawing of an eagle on the mountain landscape.

The first gold medalist of the first Winter Olympic Games
The first gold medal was won by American speed skater Charles Jewtraw. He skated the 500-meter event in 44 seconds. Today`s times are 10 seconds faster.
The first Winter Olympiad`s sport games
There were 9 sports in the first Winter Olympics. They were bobsleigh, curling, speed skating, cross-country skiing, ski jumping, ice hockey, figure skating, alpine skiing and the competition of the military patrol.
