The most memorable date in our country is the Victory Day. This holiday is celebrated on the 9th of May.

We live in a small town of Novoaltaisk, but in spite of this in our city there are many participants of the Great Patriotic War.
We want you to meet one of them. He is Vasily Andreevich Redyuk.

I was born in 1935. I lived in an ordinary peasant family, parents - father Andrew Afanasievich, 1901 and mother Yefrosinya Yakovlevna, 1904. The family had four children. We worked on a farm. I went to the war on an appeal. I served in infantry and in artillery.

Defense kept heroically, waiting for reinforcements, but did not wait. Only our risen to fight the Germans hit by shrapnel. There was a second shot, and a splinter from a third explosion hit in the shoulder. Left hand held machine, and the second began as a stranger, and not hung slushaelas. Prior to the field hospital, which was beyond the forest, spent his soldiers from unit. I was sent to the Voronezh region, to be treated in hospital. After the hospital, it was on a transit point there were a lot of people. Boilers did not wash until the last breakfast, the first had already started to dinner. When Idischarged from the hospital, there was no sense to go home. The roads were broken, the country was in fire.

I finished the war in Dresden in Germany.
