Ход урока
Good morning, pupils? How are you? Sit down, please! What is the date today? Is everybody
present today?
2. Фонзарядка.Today at the lesson we’ll meet the names of some continents and some countries.
Say after me: Europe, Asia, South America, North America, the USA, the Russian Federation,
the Philippines, China, Japan, Armenia, Hawaii, India, Turkey, Portugal, Chile, Peru.
3. Определение цели урока.
We have already spoken about space. Now we will speak about our planet – the Earth.
The Earth is a beautiful place to live on. (slide 1). We can see wonderful landscapes (slide 2), we
can climb mountains, swim in rivers, lakes and seas, lie on the beach (slide 3)
But do you agree that our planet is a dangerous place? You say “NO”. Sorry to say “YES”.

There are a lot of different kinds of disasters on the Earth. What will we speak about today? –
About natural disasters. (slide 5)
4. Введение лексики. (slides 67)
Write down the new words in your copybooks: natural disasters, a terrible disaster, a disaster
area, disastrous, earthquake, hurricane, tornado, volcano, flood, and drought.
Let’s listen to the tape and repeat the words. (ex. 76 p.23)

Take your papers with the table. Your task is listen to the text and try to complete the table.

continents and the names of the countries where the disasters happen more often.

damage – вред, повреждение, to damage – повредить,
do a lot of damage – причинить много вреда;
to shake (shook, shaken) – трясти, трястись,

shake hands with each other, shake each other’s hands пожимать руки,
shake a head – мотать головой,
to hurt причинить боль, повредить,
to be badly\seriously hurt – сильно повредиться
... wouldn’t hurt a fly – ...и мухи не обидит,
to destroy – разрушать
to injure people – травмировать людей
to become homeless – стать бездомными
to break Earth ‘s crust – разрушать земную кору
to predict предсказать
9. Говорение. Возврат в текст аудировании.
Why are natural disasters dangerous? What may happen? (slide 30)
What are the results of such disasters? Can the scientists predict them?
10. Объяснение домашнего задания.
For the next lesson you will read the text about one of the most terrible earthquakes. Open your
recordbooks and write down your home task: Ex. 81, 82 p. 24 in your textbooks. (slide 31)
