Australia Good day! I am very pleased to see you. My name is … I am  a student of Erken­Khalk  secondary school.  All of you know much about Australia .  But   in my speech  I’d like  to tell about some  interesting facts concerned wonderful Australia. What do you think of when Australia is mentioned? Crocodile Dundee, Nicole Kidman,   kangaroos, crocodiles, , aborigines, or vegemite? Australia is much more than this. So much more to offer!. It is a big country, a really big country Australia is the 6th biggest country and island in the world. That makes it about 32 times bigger  than the UK  and 59 times bigger than Greece. But Australia has one of the lowest population density in the world.   It snows in Australia! This fact still amazes some people. Hard to believe, but the Australian Alps, receive more snowfall than Switzerland does. The Kangaroo and the Emu are present on the coat of arms of Australia. Why are they? .  Because neither animal can walk backwards. They symbolize a nation always  going forward. There are around 20 million people living in Australia. Strangely, there are around 150 million  sheep in Australia.  Tasmania boasts of having the cleanest air and water in the world.  The great Barrier Reef is the longest coral  reef  in the world.  We have seen sweet, salty, big, small, clear, blue lakes. But have you ever seen the pink lake?  There is such a lake in Australia. Anyone who has ever spent a night under the stars in outback Australia will never forget the  sheer majesty of the southern hemisphere sky. Christmas is the biggest event in the Australian calendar, it is the beginning of summer month. And, of  course, Australian  Boomerang. There are 4 types of   Boomerang. They are called the Hook , the Hunter, The Club and the V. But only the Hunter will return when thrown. Australia has over 700 different species of reptiles, about 1500 species of spiders and snakes. The Kangaroo, the Emu, the Koala bear are animals that are found only in Australia. Koalas are great sleepers. They spend 16­18 hours a day sleeping. . The Australian Eucalyptus is the fastest growing tree in the world. It can grow as much as 10  metres in a year. Australians are great inventors. Some of the things that they have invented over the years include the Black Box on aeroplanes, aspirin, penicillin, the car radio, the bionic ear, the secret ballot box   and many others. They  say  “The world is a book, and those who do not travel, read only a page.” In future I will  turn another page while visiting Australia. By all  means. I am sure of myself.
