МБОУ «Гимназия №12» г. Белгорода Storyteller: On Halloween children dress up in costumes and go from door
to door at dusk gleefully calling “Trick or treat?” If you are attentive you
will see what can’t be seen on any other night.
(Children come into the class singing)
Trick or treat, trick or treat,
Give us something good to eat
Give us candy, give us cake,
Give us something sweet to take
Give us cookies, fruit and gum,
Hurry up and give us some
You had better do it quick Or we’ll surely play a trick.
Trick or treat, trick or treat
Give us something good to eat.
Give us candy, give us cake,
Give us something sweet to take
(A house with jack–olantern in the window. Two masters are inside.
Five boys in costumes and make-up march to the house singing “Trick or
treat?” They knock on the door.)
Masters: Who is there?
Boys: We see a “jackorlantern” in your window. It means we are safe in
your house. Trick or treat?
Masters: Come in. Is Halloween on parade?
Boys: Halloween’s on parade!
Masters: Before we treat you, tell us about your costumes!
1st boy: You can be something silly like a funny old circus clown
Or you can be something from a storybook,
Like a king or a queen with a crown.
You can be a super hero like the king in a comic book,
Or you can be something a little bit scary,
But a little bit friendly too.
2nd boy: You can get dressed up
In costumes and make up:
You know that it’s only pretend.
And march all around
To the happy sounds,
The fun will never end.
3d boy: Halloween’s on parade,
Halloween’s on parade,
You can be anything you wanna be
When Halloween’s on parade. 4th boy: You can be something goofy
Like an old time movie star,
A doctor, a nurse or a fire chief,
A driver in a racing car.
5th boy: You can be a crazy creature
From way out in outer space,
Or a character from a cartoon show
With a smile upon your face.
You can be anything you wanna be
When Halloween’s on parade.
Masters: We’d like to treat you. (The masters treat the boys with apples
and candies, the boys march to the second house singing “Trick or treat”
They knock on the door.) Two masters are inside.
Masters: Who are you? Witches?
Boys: No.
Masters: Ghosts?
Boys: No. We are seeking for something sweet.
Trick or treat. Smell my feet.
Give me something good to eat.
1st Master: O’K. Come in. But before we treat you, draw and paint pictures
for us, but horrible, terrible pictures.
2nd Master: Pictures of skeletons, horrible creatures, witches on their magic
brooms. If we are frightened, you’ll have something good to eat.
Storyteller: One moment, please. Before you got here, you were given
cards with pictures. Who has got cards with bones? Two bones crisscross?
Don’t be shy! Come up here! On the stage! You are welcome to take part
in a contest.
The children who have got cards with bones come up to the stage. The Masters distribute paper and pencils or pens among the boys and the
children (about 5) from the hall.
Masters: Draw while the music sounds! Ready, steady, go!
(Children draw)
Masters: Thank you all. We think this picture is the most terrible.
(the masters treat the winners)
Storyteller: I’ve got a present for you. It’s a wild black cat’s dance.
(After the cat’s dance the boys march to the third house singing
“Trick or Treat”. They knock on the door.)
1st Master: Oh, my, it’s getting late!
2nd Master: There are witches in the air.
1st Master: But we don’t care!
2nd Master: Let us run and run and run.
1st Master: I’m ready for some fun. Come in.
2nd Master: Come in. Are you ready for some fun?
Boys: Yes, we are.
Masters: Would you like to bob for apples?
Boys: We’d love to.
Storyteller: One moment, please. Who has got a card with an apple, come
up here. You are welcome to take part in a contest.
(two bowls with water are put before children, who must get the apples
out of water without using their hands) Bob, while the music sounds.
1st, 2nd boys: Watch us bobbing for an apple,
For an apple, apple, apple,
But no apple, apple, apple,
Not an apple can I get.
3d, 4th boys: Oh, I cannot catch an apple,
Not one apple, apple, apple,
Though my brother got an apple,
All I got was soaking wet. (The boys march to the wings singing “Trick or Treat”, the masters take the
bowls and “jacko’lantern” away)
Storyteller: We need children who want to play. Come on the stage.
(Volunteers come up to the stage)
Storyteller: Thank you.You are brave children. Your task is very simple:
you should continue my story. The beginning of the story is mysterious and
terrible, the end should correspond to the beginning. The one who frightens
me will have something. Listen.
“There was an old woman who lived all by herself, and she was very
lonely. Sitting in the kitchen one night she said, ”Oh, I wish I had some
company”. No sooner had she spoken than down the chimney tumbled two
feet from which the flesh had rotted. The old woman’s eyes bulged with
terror. Then two legs dropped to the hearth and attached themselves to the
feet. (To be continued)
After the storyteller has read the beginning of the story, the first team
is invited to continue.
Storyteller: What a terrible story. Now it’s the turn of the second team to
continue the horror story. Listen to the beginning of it:
Once upon a time a little black boy, Mose by name lived in a shanty,
down in a hollow, by the graveyard. It was a spooky place to live, for all he
could hear at night were the doves and the owls and the wind. Little Mose
tried to stay in at night because he was so black that he couldn’t be seen in
the dark at all except by the whites of his eyes, and who could tell but a
cold, damp ghost from the graveyard might bump into him.
When Halloween came he decided to stay all the evening in the corner
by the fireplace, for he heard the doves moan, and the owls hoot, and the
wind wail and he knew the ghosts were out. But then the neighbours came
in for a surprise party, and Mose’s mother told him to go and get a
pumpkin for a “Jacko’lantern” from the field beyond the graveyard.( To be continued)
Storyteller: Dear children, clap your hands, if you like the story of the
first team. Thank you. Now, please give a big hand, if you like the other
team’s story. (The storyteller congratulates both of the teams and treats
them with candies or apples.)
Five witches appear, reciting the poem in chorus or line by line:
One little, two little, three little witches.
Four little, five little, six little witches,
Seven little, eight little, nine little witches,
Ten little witches in the sky. Hihi!
Five witches occupy the house. Five Boys appear marching to the house
singing “Trickortreat”. They knock on the door.
1st witch: Oh, come in. You’re welcome. Come closer, dear children, for
we must say, “Hello” Now, they are ours.
Five witches rush out of the house. The frightened boys huddle together.
Five witches go round.
4th Witch: Dead leaves, seaweed, rotten eggs, too;
Stir them in my witches’ brew.
I got magic, alakazamakazoo.
Spider web, mouldly bread, mucky mud too;
Stir them in my witches’ brew.
Ooh, what’s gonna do to you?
Witches: Boo, Boo, Boo!
3d Witch: Your last desire? Or we’ll add you to my witches’ brew and stir
you really well.
Boys: May we try to frighten you?
Witсhes: Frighten us? Hahaha… O’K
1st Boy : There’s a garlic on the floor, on the floor, on the floor
Who could ask for any more Than a garlic on the floor?
Five frightened witches squeal and scream at the top of their voices and
run away. The boys march to the wings singing “Trickortreat”
triumphantly.
All the actors come up to the stage and bow.
