Упражнения - Past Tenses

Упражнения расположены от простого к сложному.

Часть 1: Теория (напоминание)

·         Past Simple – обычное, законченное действие в прошлом. Yesterday, last week, ago.

·         Past Continuous – действие в процессе в определенный момент прошлого. At 5 pm yesterday, while, when.

·         Past Perfect – действие, завершившееся до другого действия или момента в прошлом. By 5 pm, before, after, already.

·         Past Perfect Continuous – действие, которое длилось и, возможно, продолжалось до другого действия в прошлом (акцент на длительность). For, since, how long.

Упражнение 1: Выберите правильный вариант (Past Simple vs. Past Continuous)

1.    I (watched / was watching) TV when you (called / were calling).

2.    She (cooked / was cooking) dinner while the children (played / were playing) in the garden.

3.    What (did you do / were you doing) at 8 o'clock last night?

4.    He (didn't hear / wasn't hearing) the doorbell because he (listened / was listening) to loud music.

5.    They (had / were having) a picnic when it suddenly (started / was starting) to rain.

Упражнение 2: Раскройте скобки, используя Past Simple или Past Perfect

1.    When I (arrive) at the station, the train (already/leave).

2.    She (be) upset because she (fail) her exam.

3.    (you/see) that film before we (go) to the cinema together?

4.    He (realize) that he (lose) his keys.

5.    After they (eat) lunch, they (go) for a walk.

Упражнение 3: Раскройте скобки, используя Past Perfect или Past Perfect Continuous

1.    She was tired because she (work) for 10 hours.

2.    They (live) in London for five years before they moved to Paris.

3.    The garden was a mess because it (rain) all night.

4.    He (already / finish) his report by the time the meeting started.

5.    How long (you / wait) before the bus finally arrived?

Упражнение 4: Исправьте ошибки (в каждом предложении одна ошибка)

1.    They were playing football when it had started to rain.

2.    I had been knowing him for years before we became friends.

3.    She was sleeping for 8 hours when I woke her up.

4.    What did you did last weekend?

5.    Before he moved here, he was living in Rome for a decade.

Упражнение 5: Сложное. Раскройте скобки, используя все прошедшие времена (Past Simple, Continuous, Perfect, Perfect Continuous)

1.    Tom (burn) his hand while he (cook) dinner. He (just/take) a hot pan out of the oven.

2.    I (meet) John after he (quit) his job. He (look) for a new one for months.

3.    When I (walk) into the room, everyone (work). Some (type) letters, others (talk) on the phone. Nobody (notice) me.

4.    She (tell) me that she (not/be) to the theatre since she (move) to the city.

5.    They (be) exhausted because they (travel) all day. However, they (not/visit) all the places they (plan) to see.

Упражнение 6: Переведите на английский, используя прошедшие времена

1.    Вчера в 6 вечера я готовила ужин.

2.    К тому времени, как мы пришли, все уже съели торт.

3.    Они говорили об этом целый день, но так и не пришли к соглашению.

4.    Что ты делал, когда я позвонил?

5.    Он был грязный, потому что чинил машину.

Упражнение 2: Раскройте скобки, используя Past Simple или Past Perfect

1.            arrived, had already left

2.        was, had failed

3.        Had you seen, went

4.        realized, had lost

5.        had eaten, went

Упражнение 3: Раскройте скобки, используя Past Perfect или Past Perfect Continuous

1.            had been working (акцент на длительность и результат — усталость)

2.        had lived / had been living (оба возможны, без разницы)

3.        had been raining (акцент на длительность и результат — беспорядок)

4.        had already finished (простое завершенное действие)

5.        had you been waiting (вопрос о длительности)

Упражнение 4: Исправьте ошибки (в каждом предложении одна ошибка)

1.            They were playing football when it started to rain. (одновременные действия в прошлом)

2.        I had known him for years... (глагол know не используется в Continuous)

3.        She had been sleeping for 8 hours when I woke her up. (действие длилось до момента в прошлом)

4.        What did you do last weekend? (второй глагол в основной форме)

5.        ...he had lived / had been living in Rome for a decade. (действие завершилось до "moving")

Упражнение 5: Сложное. Раскройте скобки, используя все прошедшие времена (Past Simple, Continuous, Perfect, Perfect Continuous)

1.            burned (PS), was cooking (PC), had just taken (PP)

2.        met (PS), had quit (PP), had been looking (PPC)

3.        walked (PS), was working (PC), were typing (PC), were talking (PC), noticed (PS)

4.        told (PS), hadn't been (PP), moved (PS)

5.        were (PS), had been travelling (PPC), hadn't visited (PP), had planned (PP)

Упражнение 6: Переведите на английский, используя прошедшие времена

1.            Yesterday at 6 p.m. I was cooking dinner.

2.        By the time we arrived, everyone had already eaten the cake.

3.        They had been talking about it all day but hadn't reached an agreement.

4.        What were you doing when I called?

5.        He was dirty because he had been repairing the car.
