Урок 44. Исторические данные о названиях стран

Цели: развитие навыков письменной речи (написание эссе); развитие навыков аудирования с извлечением необходимой ин­формации; введение новой страноведческой информации по теме «Названия стран и штатов».

Ход урока

I.   Организационный момент

-                   We'll spend today's lesson having a talk about Great Britain, Russia and America.

II.   Фонетическая зарядка

-                   Let's play a new game. Be active and try to remember as many English words on the topic "Travelling" as you can.

III.   Речевая разминка

Игра «Испорченный телефон»

-     Now we shall play. One pupil will go to the blackboard. He will be British and tell us about Great Britain. But the telephone  doesn't work well. You ask your friend about the facts he will describe again.

Примерный диалог учащихся:

-                     Great Britain is in Europe.

-                     Is Great Britain in Asia?

-                     No, it is not. Great Britain is in Europe. English is a world language nowadays.

-                     Is English a local language nowadays?

-                     No, it isn't. The population of Great Britain is 59 million people.

-                     Is the population of Great Britain 69 million people?

-                     No, it isn't. The population of Great Britain is 59 million people.

-                     The longest river is the Severn.

-                     Is the longest river the Thames?

-                     No, it is not. The longest river is the Severn. The area of the country is 294 thousand sq km. Etc.

IV.  Активизация страноведческого материала по теме «Англоязычные страны и родная страна»

-                     It's time to open your textbooks, exercise 93, page 93. Who will read the task? You will work in groups and answer the questions. You have a minute to look through the questions and then we shall listen to your ideas.

упр. 93, стр. 93 из учебника. Ученики продолжают работу в составе групп, которые были соз­даны на предыдущих уроках. Сначала учащиеся просматривают вопросы из данного упражнения в течение 1-2 минут самостоя­тельно, а затем группы по очереди зачитывают вопросы вслух и отвечают на них.

V.  Развитие навыков аудирования с целью понимания необходимой информации

-                     We mentioned some facts about Great Britain, America and Russia. Let's listen to the tape and check up your answers. Listen to the text again and find out the difference between an official language and a working language.

Выполнение упр. 94, стр. 93 организуется следующим образом: во время первого прослушивания ученики сверяют свои ответы с информацией из текста аудиозаписи. Второе прослушивание данного рассказа может быть организовано с целью нахождения ответов на вопросы из упр. 95, стр. 93 из учебника..

VII.   Введение новой страноведческой информации по теме «Америка». Закрепление навыков чтения и устной речи

-                   The United States of America is worth seeing and visiting. Many people go there to work and travel. How many states are there in America? Can you name them? What are they famous for? The states have the nicknames or unofficial names. You can see some of them in your textbooks, exercise 96, page 94. Look at the pictures and read the names of five American States. Let's read some information in Appendix I, pages 191-192. Read the nicknames to yourself and explain why the states have these names. Does the geographical position reflect the nicknames?

VIII.   Развитие навыков письменной речи (написание эссе)

-                   The next task for you is reading an essay about Great Britain. I am sure, it is interesting to know some facts about a historic name and a poetic name of this country. You will read the essay from exercise 97, page 94 and say what information is new for you. Do you know any facts about the names of our country? What can you say about Russia?

IX. Подведение итогов урока

Домашнее задание
