Приветствие.

Teacher:

Good morning, boys and girls. I’m glad to see you. Sit down, please.

Who is on duty today? Who is absent?

The theme of our lesson is “Globalization”.

Did you hear anything about it?

Nowadays globalization is an extremely popular topic, in whatever country you are in.

However, not everyone, who speaks about it, understands what this process means.

Let’s try to find out the meaning of the word. To make our challenging task easier, we’ll do the following. (Teacher draws and writes the spidergram on the blackboard) What things do you associate globalization with? As for me, I associate it with foreign goods in our shops. (International organizations, foreign films, music,  fast food…)

OK, thank you. Now complete the sentence:

Globalization means that ….

(Globalization means that people of different countries listen to the same music.

It means that most countries depend on one another.

It means that people in different countries may have similar problems.

It means that you can buy your favourite fuzzy drink in any country.)

Now think of a more general definition of globalization.

Globalization means that international trade, cultural exchange, and interdependence of countries increased rapidly.

Work in pairs.
