Sunday in the park

Mrs Smith and her class went to the park on Sunday. Two students didn’t come. One of them went to the country with his parents and another girl was ill.

   The weather was sunny and warm. The children played volleyball, football, hide-and-seek and leapfrog. All of them took some tasty things to eat from home. There was a big pond in the park where they could ride in a boat. There were only three boats for three people each. It was great fun!

      Some children saw squirrels for the first time in their lives. Two squirrels lived on a big old oak in the middle of the park. Maybe, there were even more squirrels but the class saw only two of them. One squirrel was bigger and the second squirrel was smaller. The children thought that they were a mother and her baby.

   The children gave them some nuts to eat. The little animals liked them very much. Many students took photos of the squirrels.

   Sunday was a good day. Now the class wants to go somewhere again on summer holidays.

Hedgehog Bill

Last year Mary and her younger sister found a little hedgehog on the way from the forest. He was so nice and funny. But they were afraid to take him with their hands, because he had sharp spines. The animal didn’t run away from them. They gave him some wild strawberries, but the hedgehog didn’t want to eat anything. Or maybe he was just scared. The girls wanted to take him home. Lily, Mary’s sister, said, “Let’s not do it, because he may lose his way.” Mary answered, “We will play with him and then take him back to this place.” There was a towel in their basket. It helped them to carry the little animal to the house.

    They showed him to their grandma and grandpa. The girls fed the hedgehog and played with him for some hours. In  the evening they took him back to the forest.

    The next morning the girls saw the little animal in front of their house. They were so surprised. The hedgehog liked them and the girls liked the hedgehog. They called him Bill. He became their pet and lived in the garden of the girls’ grandparents.
