Introduction

I learned about The Beatles last year when I heard the song "Yesterday" I liked the music, motive, words, and voice of the performer. Therefore, I decided to find information about the composition, songs, history of The Beatles. So the idea to create a project about this group arose.

Relevance: Classics do not get old, and even one day a year on January 16, the Beatles day is celebrated. For 21 years now, the Liverpool Four have been officially revered throughout the world. The Beatles are considered one of the most successful bands of the 20th century, and RollingStone magazine even ranked them number one on their list of the "Greatest Artists of All Time"

Topic: Hits of the past through the eyes of a modern teenager.

Purpose: To expand the musical knowledge of teenagers about the legendary band "The Beatles".

Tasks:

-Collect information about the group «TheBeatles»;

-Analyze various literature in order to search for the history, members and hits of the group;

- Conduct a survey among teenagers on knowledge about the group "The Beatles";

-Prepare a presentation and talk about the Beatles group;

- Conduct a survey among the guys in order to identify the influence of the group's creativity on the teenagers of our school;

Make a conclusion about the work done.

Project product: presentation about The Beatles, song "Yesterday"

Object of study: The Beatles group.

Subject of research: History, composition of the group and their songs.

The methods we used in our work:

- study of special literature;

- search for information on the Internet.

We see the practical significance of the work in the fact that its materials can be used by students both in English lessons.

Chapter I Historical Facts About The Beatles

1. Characteristics of each representative of the group

The Beatles the group is also called the «Liverpool Four» founded in 1960 which included: John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison and Ringo Starr.

John Winston Ono Lennon

British rock musician, singer, poet, composer, artist, writer and activist. One of the founders and member of The Beatles, one of the most popular musicians of the 20th century. After the collapse of The Beatles, he began a solo career, but in 1980 he was killed by a former fan of the group.

In addition to his musical activities, Lennon was also known as a political activist. He expressed his views both in songs and in public speeches. The famous song "Imagine" expresses Lennon's thoughts on how the world should work. Lennon preached the ideas of equality and brotherhood of people, peace, freedom. This made him a hippie idol and one of the most

James Paul McCartney

British musician, multi-instrumentalist, writer and producer. Cofounder of The Beatles, 16-time Grammy Award Winner , Knight-Bachelor and Commander of the Order of the British Empire. In 2011 he was voted one of the best bass guitarists of all time according to a survey conducted by Rolling Stone magazine among readers, taking 3rd place. In the editorial list of this magazine in 2020, it took 9th place. His vocal range is over four octaves. He is left-handed and therefore plays left-handed guitars.



 

George Harrison

British rock musician, singer, composer, writer, producer, sitarist and guitarist, best known as the lead guitarist of The Beatles. Harrison is the 21 on Rolling Stone's 100 Greatest Guitarists of All Time.

In the 1960s, Harrison converted to Hinduism, which significantly influenced his subsequent creative and social activities. Harrison played a key role in sparking Western interest in Indian culture, Hinduism and the Hare Krishna movement.

 

Ringo Starr

Britishmusician, songwriter, actor.Known as the drummer for The Beatles.Knight Bachelor of the Order of the British Empire.Ringo played drums and percussion on almost every Beatles song, except: "Within You Without You”

He was the author of two songs performed by the Beatles ("Octopus's Garden" and "Don't Pass Me By")

 

2. Historical information about "The Beatles"

The biography of the English group "The Beatles" began in the late fifties of the twentieth century. In the spring of 1956, the leader of the future star team, John Lennon, first heard one of Elvis Presley's songs. And this song, Heartbreak Hotel, turned the whole life of a young man upside down. Lennon played the banjo and harmonica, but new music made him take up the guitar.

At one party where Lennon was present, everyone had to perform a song. One guy, by the name of Paul McCartney, then sang a composition of his own composition. John liked the way Paul plays. And when it turned out that McCartney also knows the lyrics of many pop hits, he was immediately invited to the Quarryman group.

In the fall of 1958, fifteen-year-old George Harrison joined the line-up.

In 1959, The Quarrymen was on the verge of breaking up, but a new member appeared in the group - Stuart Sutcliffe, a friend of Lennon. The line-up was almost formed: Sutcliffe (bass guitar), Harrison (lead guitar), McCartney (vocals, guitar, piano), Lennon (vocals, rhythm guitar). The only thing missing was a drummer.

And in the spring of 1960, Lennon approved the name "The Beatles".

The fame of The Beatles abroad began with the city of Hamburg. By the 1960s, Germany recognized British performers, and British musical groups often went on tour in German cities. However, Lennon's band lacked a drummer. Lennon, McCartney and Harrison met Ringo Starr, who joined the band in 1962, by a lucky chance on the recording of the group's disc "Rory Storm and the Hurricanes" with the participation of the Beatles.

1963 is considered the heyday of the Liverpool Four. The recording of the fourth single brought the group worldwide recognition and fame. Abroad, the group expected incredible success. After touring in Hamburg, Sweden followed by tours of Europe and the United States. At the same time, the four released records, participated in the filming of films.

The Beatles stopped working together in 1970, although Paul and John have been running their own projects since at least 1967. After the breakup, each of the musicians continued their solo careers. In 1980, John Lennon was killed near his home in New York, and George Harrison died of cancer in 2001. Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr continue to create and write music.

Thus, The Beatles existed for about 10 years, and during this time they released 13 albums. They played excellent music, composing on their own or interpreting in their own way the works of other authors, diverse in style.

Chapter II.Popular songs of the group through the eyes of a modern teenager.

2.1 "Music specific to teenagers"

Modern teenagers cannot live without music. Music is the way of their life. What kind of music do young people listen to? Studies show that the guys spend most of their time listening to different song genres: "moving", "rap", "hip-hop" and others. Today, there is an addiction of young people to the light genre, which is part of mass culture, and high musical culture is often not in demand. Music today is one of the main components of the life of modern teenagers.

2.2 "Questionnaire among teenagers on knowledge about the group" The Beatles ".

A survey was conducted among students of grades 5-10 of the MKOU "Tarminskaya secondary school" in order to be aware of the group "The Beatles".

According to the histogram, it can be seen that the majority of respondents know and listen to The Beatles (7th grade), but 19% of respondents do not know anything about the work of this group.

The 7th grade students expressed their desire to broaden their horizons about The Beatles. It was decided to prepare a presentation about the group and demonstrate it at the class hour. We showed a presentation, listened to some hits of the group, conducted a survey.

We listened to the top 10 songs.

Для учащихся 7 класса была показана презентация, прослушаны песни группы "Beatles". Такжебылпроведенопроспогруппе"Beatles".По данным гистограммы видно, что ребята знают членов группы "Beatles", её творчество, слушают и исполняют её песни.

Большинство опрошенных после знакомства с хитами группы "Beatles" выразили желание отдать предпочтение классической музыке "Beatles", а не музыке легкого жанра.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Заключение.

Выводы о проделанной работе

Работая над проектом, мы узнали очень  много информации о группе "Beatles".  В музыке «Битлз» присутствовали сложные размеры, свободные модуляции и тональный окрас. Им хорошо удавалось украсить гармоническую палитру музыки, они обогатили музыку, добавив струнные и духовые инструменты.

Мы достигли  цели, Расширили музыкальные знания подростков о легендарной группе «TheBeatles» путем знакомства с творчеством группы и прослушиванием их хитов. Отдали предпочтение классической музыки.

В процессе работы приобрели опыт, который пригодится в дальнейшем при изучении соответствующих тем по английскому языку и информатике. Думаю, что полученные нами знания способствовали развитию навыка самостоятельной работы с текстами, словарями и справочниками на английском языке, а так же развитие навыка самостоятельной работы с диаграммами.

The results of the work can be used both in English language lessons and by tourists when traveling in Great Britain.

Результаты работы можно использовать как на уроках английского языка,  так и туристами при путешествии по Великобритании.
