Hello, everybody! We are very glad to see you here. We’ll begin our competition with the conversation of our senior participants, Ann and Tanya.
A.: Hello, Tanya!
T.: Hello, Ann!
A.: How are you today?
T.: I’m fine, thank you, and you?
A.: I’m fine too. I’m very happy today.
T.: Why? What’s happened?
A.: You know, today we have English language week at our school, and I ‘ll take an active part in it.
T.: What will you do?
A.: Well, I‘ll play a part of Gerda in the fairy-tale “The Snow Queen”. I enjoy playing roles in our English fairy tale theatre. Do you have English week in your school?
T.: Certainly. We have English Club in our school too, and now we make a performance of “The Snow Queen “too. It’s very amusing! A.: What part will you play in it?
T.: Oh, I’ll be a little girl-pirate.
A.: I wish you success!
T.: The same to you! Good luck!
And now we’ll watch four fairy-tales where our young actors and actresses play their roles.
So let’s start with the first fairy-tale which is called
Characters Fox
Cat
Two Dogs
The Cat is sitting in a tree. The Fox is looking at the Cat.
Cat: How do you do, Mrs. Fox? How are you?
Fox: Very well, thank you. They say, that you are very clever. Tell me, please, how many tricks do you know to run away from the dog?
Cat: I know only one, that is to climb up the tree as fast as I can.
Fox: Is that all? Poor Cat! How I pity you! As for me, I know at least a hundred.
They hear dogs barking. The Cat climbed up a tree. The Fox is trying to run away. Dogs: (barking and catching the Fox). Oh, here you are at last, Mrs. Fox! That will be your end!
The dogs take the Fox away.
Cat: Good-bye, Mrs. Fox. How I pity you, and how glad I am that I know only one good trick well!
Our second fairy-tale is called
Characters Lion
Mouse
Act I
The Lion is sleeping. The little Mouse is running about.
Lion: (wakes up) Grr! Who is running over my feet?
Mouse: It’s me, Mr. Lion, a poor little mouse.
Lion: Well, I’ll kill you and eat you up!
Mouse: Oh, Mr. Lion, let me live! I am so small. Please, don’t eat me. Some day I can help you.
Lion: Ha-ha! How can you help a big lion? You are too small! Run away! Don’t come here again!
Mouse: Oh, thank you, Mr. Lion!
The Mouse is running away.
Act II
The Lion is caught in a net.
Lion: Grr-rr! Oh, anybody, help me! Help me!
Mouse: Oh, Mr. Lion! What’s the matter with you?
Lion: I am in the net .I can’t get out of it. Soon hunters will come back and kill me.
Mouse: I’ll help you, Mr. Lion! My teeth are sharp. and I’ll quickly cut the net.
Lion: Do, please! I’m afraid of the hunters! They will come back soon! Mouse: Wait a little, Mr. Lion! I’m cutting a net. You will soon be free!
The Mouse cut the net and now the Lion is free.
Lion: Oh, thank you, dear Mouse! I’m free now, and now I can run away.
Our third fairy-tale is called
Characters Fox
Crow
The Crow is sitting in a tree with a piece of cheese in her mouth. The Fox is coming up to the tree.
Fox: Good day, Mrs. Crow! Oh, how nice are you today !Glad to see you! How fine your feathers are! How bright your eyes are! I am sure, you voice is very sweet. Just let me hear one song from you! You are surely the queen of birds, I’ll tell everybody!
Crow: Carrr, Carrr, Carr…
Fox: (taking the piece of cheese).That was all I wanted/Thank you for your cheese, Mrs. Crow. I’ll give you this advice:” Don’t trust flatterers!”
And at last our fourth fairy-tale is called
Characters Fox
Cock
Narrator
Narrator: One morning the Cock went for a walk. On his way he saw a very big tree and sat in it. The Fox was in the forest. He saw the Cock in the tree and said: Fox: (to herself). Oh, this cock is very nice breakfast for me. Good morning, my friend Cock. How are you? Cock: Thank you. I am all right.
Fox: Do you know that all the animals are friends now: the dog and the cat, the cat and the mouse, the fox and the birds, - we are all friends now.
Cock: That’s very good!
Fox: Yes, we are all friends now. Come to my house for breakfast, please.
Cock: All right, but I see a dog. Oh, look there!
(The dog is coming to the tree)
Dogs like to ear too. Well, Fox, ask the dog to come for breakfast too. Fox: A dog? You say a dog is coming. Then good-bye!
Cock: Dear Fox, where are you going? Don’t run away. All the animals are friends now, you say.
Fox: Yes, all the animals are friends now, but does the dog know it?
Well, children, do you like our actors and actresses? Who is the best?
