Let students guess the topic of the lesson. ________ is the most important software that runs on a computer. It manages the computer's memory, processes, and all of its software and hardware. It also allows you to communicate with the computer without knowing how to speak the computer's "language." Without it, a computer is useless. Teacher familiarizes the students with lesson objectives and evaluation criteria.
Students watch the video about operating system by the following link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5AjReRMoG3Y Ask students to write the key concepts and definitions given in video, while they watch video.
Teacher checks what definitions they have written and asks what are the function of OS, which components OS consists of.
Teacher shows the top 10 operating systems. Students in pairs analyze them and compare 2 of them by creating poster.
Pairs present their posters to class.
Students read handout about different types of operating systems.
Students fill the comparison table according to the information from handouts
If there is remaining time: In group of three students find in the internet interesting facts about one operating system. Students present the interest fact and others should guess the name of an operating system Task for advanced students: Give task to classify operating systems into PC, Server and mobile. Recommendations for underperforming students: Ask underperforming students to finish the tasks at home. If it is possible provide extra lesson for them. |

Reflection The "Plus-minus-interesting" method. In column "P" - "plus" - everything that was liked in the lesson, information and forms of work that caused positive emotions is recorded, or, in the student's opinion, can be useful to him for achieving some goals. In the column "M" - "minus" - everything that was not liked in the lesson was recorded, seemed boring, evoked hostility, remained incomprehensible, or information that, in the student's opinion, was not necessary for him, useless. In the column "I" - "interesting" - students enter all the curious facts that were learned in the lesson, what else would you like to know on this issue, questions to the teacher.
