The tradition of Mother’s Day started with the ancient Greeks who celebrated their
annual spring festival in honour of Rhea, the mother of many Gods and Goddeses in
the Greek mythology. Ancient Romans also celebrated a spring festival by the name
of Hillarie in honour of Sybele, a mother Goddess, 250 years before Christ was born.
Today Mother’s Day is celebrated in several countries including US, UK, India,
Australia, Mexico, Canada, China< Russia. People take the day as an opportunity to
pay tribute to their mothers and thank them for all their love and support.
God made a wonderful mother,
A mother who never grows old:
He made her smile of the sunshine,
And He moulded her heart of pure gold:
In her eyes He placed bright shining stars,
In her cheeks fare roses you see;
God made a wonderful mother,
And He gave that dear mother to me.
Mommy I love you,
Mommy, I love you
For all that you do.
I’ll kiss you and hug you
Cause you love me, too
M is for the million things she gave me,
O means only that she’s growing old,
T is for the tears she shed to save me,
H is for her heart of purest gold,
E is for her eyes with love-light shining,
R means right, and right she will always be,
Put them all together, they spell MOTHER. Mommy I love you,
Mommy, I love you
For all that you do.
I’ll kiss you and hug you
Cause you love me, too
