Topic  Youth movements

Teacher’s objective:  to develop speaking, writing skills, to practise new  vocabulary in dialogues;

                                       to improve skills of group working and project research

Student’s objective:__ to develop speaking, writing skills, to practise new  vocabulary in dialogues

To know: new  vocabulary

To be able to : use it in speaking, writing

Problem issue : Why do teens try to join some youth movement?

Lesson plan

 

  1. Tuning up

Listen to the music. What style does it belong to?

         Today we’ll be talking about styles and youth movement – it’s our topic (slide 1)

         If  we are going to talk, what will the aim be? 

         Problem: Why do teens try to join some youth movement ?

         What criteria will we use? ( a, b, d)

         According our topic, aim can you name areas of interaction? (ATL, HSE) Why?

         Today we are going to do the excursion to the virtual museum “Youth movements and styles?”

 

2.      Instruction – Engagement (Motivation activity)

1.      Game “Warm-up”

-         Before  the excursion let’s train our language. Stand up.  We’ll play the game “Warm-up”: Teenagers.

2.      Describing of the pictures.

-         Now, look at the screen and take your papers.  Describe the pictures using the words.   (slide 2).

 

3. Instructional Sequence (Teaching methodology with student activity)

- Let’s go to the museum. Our assistants made presentations on different topics (criterion b):

1 assistant  – “youth movements”

2 assistant  – “ Youth political movements”

4.Application ( Practice)

1) Making the dialogues:

- Did you like the excursion? How will you be making dialogues? (slide 3)

1 group – what music style do you prefer?

2 group- what political youth movement do you want to join? (With a politician)

3 group – what youth movement do you want to join? (With a journalist)

-          Take your card-helpers and make your dialogues.

             2)  Role-play of the dialogues.

 

5. Feedback and reflection _

--       Let’s do the test-translation. (criterion d)

 -     Exchange with your papers and check the test using the key. (slide 4)

-          Put the marks according to the descriptor. (slide 5)

-          What marks have you got? (slide 6)

6. Summing up

–      Have we reached the aim of the lesson? Take your check-lists and tick what you have learnt today.

-          In your groups discuss and answer the question (problem): Why do teenagers try to join some youth movements?

-          Your work is good! Well done!

7. Home task
