Learn to  use and identify the dependent and independent variables.

Learn to keep the variables which may affect the investigation constant for a ‘fair test’.

Learn to use graphs and data tables to plot graphs.

Find the patterns from graphical analysis, like the gradient of a linear plot, to do analysis of the results.

Be able to use error analysis and estimation of validity of the experimental results.

Use the analysis of the results to draw conclusions about the quality of the experiment and how to improve the procedure in an evaluation.

Learners can write an aim and prediction for the experiment, with back ground theory necessary to do the experiment.

Learners can write the method or procedure for the experiment. Students can write the following sections:

o         Fair test

o         Diagram

o         Equipment

o         Step-by-step instructions

o         Variables measured in experiment (Unknown Variables or Dependent Variables)

o         Variables changed  in experiment (Known Variables or Independent Variables)

o         Variables not changed and kept constant throughout the experiment.

Learners can make results tables with correct labels and units. They can plot the data.

Learners can plot the data, find the line of best fit and find a gradient.

Students can find averages and estimate errors or calculate fractional/percentage errors.

Learners can analyze the meaning of the results, graphs and tables in qualitative and quantitative terms.

Students can identify the positive and negative aspects of the experiment and be able to plan an improvement upon it. Students will also be able to explain how gain new knowledge by improving the experiment and application of what they learned from their current analysis.
