Тема: "Лондон".

Цели и задачи урока:

Образовательные:

познакомить учащихся со столицей Великобритании, ее достопримечательностями;

активизировать навыки аудирования;

совершенствовать  навыки грамматики и диалогической речи; 

развивать умения читать с охватом общего содержания.

Развивающие:

развивать способности к догадке, коммуникабельности, способности осуществлять репродуктивные и продуктивные речевые действия.

Воспитательные:

воспитание уважительного, толерантного отношения к чужой культуре.

Оснащение урока: компьютер, мультимедиа, презентация, раздаточный материал.

Вид урока: комбинированный.

Методы обучения: устный фронтальный и индивидуальный опрос, тренировочные упражнения;

                    1.         Организационный момент. Приветствие.

                    2.         Постановка целей урока и мотивация.

Look at this screen. It is the theme of our lesson.

Учащиеся читают тему урока “ Welcome to the capital of  Great Britain”. 

Today we’ll   talk about the capital of the UK, read about some of the famous sights and   then you will check your knowledge, make our own dialogues.

                    3.         Речевая зарядка.

   Look at the blackboard.

  What city can you see on the screen?

   Do you like this city?

         What is the capital of Great Britain?

          Is London a beautiful city?

          Are there many places of interest in London?

   Would you like to visit London?

   Would you like to visit London right now?

                    4.         Фонетическая зарядка.

Before going to London let’s remember some English words and phrases. So, look at the blackboard, please. I’m going to read you some English words you’ll repeat after me.

So, we are ready to visit London. Welcome to the capital of Great Britain. You have a great opportunity to visit one of the most ancient and beautiful cities in the world.

1. London.

London is the capital of Great Britain. It's a very big city.

About 9 ml people live in London.

London is one of the most beautiful cities in the world. It is also a very old city. London is 2000 years old. London consists of 3 main parts: the City, the West End and the East End. The City is the Heart of London, it's business center. There are many banks and offices  there. The West End is the richest part of London. The main interesting places are situated there. And the East End is a working part of London.

2.The Thames.

London is situated on the river Thames. The river Thames is the deepest and most beautiful river in Britain.

3. Tower Bridge.

There are 27 bridges over the Thames. Is one of the oldest bridges in London. It is over a hundred years old.

4. Westminster Abbey.

The political center is Westminster. Westminster Abbey is there. It is the traditional place of coronation for English monarchs. Many  people are buried in the church.

5. Trafalgar Square.

Trafalgar Square is in the center of the west End of London. On the column in the center there is a stature of Admiral Nelson who defeated the French at the Battle of Trafalgar in 1805. Trafalgar Square is the place where the meetings and demonstrations take place.

6. Tower of London.

You can see the Tower of London from the river Thames. The Tower is very old. It has a long and cruel history. It is not just one building.

The tall building is the White Tower, the oldest part of the Tower of London. The Bloody Tower is near the river. You do not see blood there today. But the Bloody Tower has a history of blood- the blood of men, women and even children. Now the King and the Queen of Britain do not live in the Tower. When the Queen is in London, she stays in Buckingham Palace.

7. Buckingham Palace.

It’s the London home of the Queen. When the flag is flying on the top she is at home. Buckingham Palace was built for John, first Duke of Buckingham, in 1703. Changing the guards takes place there. The palace is open to public.

8. The Houses of Parliament.

The Houses of Parliament stands on the River Thames at Westminster. It begun in 1840 after a Great Fire of London. It is a place where the British Government sits.

It consists of three parts: the Royal Apartments, the House of Lords and the House of Commons It is officially known as the Palace of Westminster. The complex includes  the 320 foot high Clock Tower. It contains the world famous sight Big Ben.

9. Big Ben.

Tourists in London always want to visit Westminster Abbey and see Big Ben. They want to see the clock in its tower and to hear the bells. Big Ben is really a bell. You hear it every hour. It is a big bell. It weighs 13,720 kilograms. It has a deep tone and you hear it on the radio: “This is BBC. The time is six o’clock.” And then you hear the deep boom of Big Ben six times.

10. The London Eye.

  Is the biggest wheel in Britain. Its highest point is 135 m. It was opened on the 1^st                              of February 2000

Look at the screen. Now you will see a video about one of the sights.

Try to remember the main points of this video and answer the questions:

1.     Do you like this building?

2.     What kind of building is it?

3.     Who built the Cathedral?

4.     When was the Cathedral built?

Учащиеся просматривают видеоматериал и отвечают на вопросы.

                    8.         Работа с дефинициями. (слайды 18-22)

                    9.         Развитие навыков диалогической речи.

OK you know a lot of places in London. But we can lose our way. It will be very important for you to ask some help. If you know the way you’ll help the person to find the way. Listen to the dialogues and then show you own dialogues with your partner. You have 5 minutes to do it.

                  10.      Обобщающий лексический тест.

London is very interesting place I think we’ll learn more information about this city in our future. And now let’s check your knowledge. Look at me you can find the paper with this test. Try to find the right answers.

                  11.      Подведение итогов урока.

And now we know about places of interests in London. We know how to find a way.
